Hopefully, a place for anyone to share erotic folklore they know about please share, I'd love to see some more!

Was doing research on some pacific island folklore for a story and found a gem of an article. It was both really interesting from a cultural perspective, and also exposed that some erotic tropes you often see here on chyoa are ancient! I thought I'd share in case anyone found inspiration or just erotically intellectual entertainment :D

I'll post the link to the article below and some thoughts I had about the content

The Article: EROTIC LEGENDS AND NARRATIVES IN CHUUK, MICRONESIA

A brief summary: This article was written to help analyze and explain some of the local mentality around sex and sexuality on the island of Chuuk and some surrounding islands.

Some unique features of the culture which I found interesting. of course I may be misconstruing some of the information and some of it is my own thoughts and not the authors. ( Since I'm just doing it causally I'm not super carful about making a distinction) And I may leave out some information so highly recommend having a read if you find it interesting. It's not long and pretty entertaining by scientific article standards:
    • The vagina is the greatest symbol of sex (not the penis) and the sexiest part of the female sex is the labia minora:
as a result there are traditions and techniques of how to extend the inner lips. And tattos tend to be ut in the genetal area because it's such an erotic place. There also an entire fetish around getting a glimps up or crawling under a womans skirt for the sake of seeing her vagina (and perhaps more) which puts a lot of pressure on the women to protet themselves and take precausions, they are very careful about exposing themselves and any sort of contact with it is highly sexualised.
    • Women's orgasm is an essential part of sex. If it's not achieved the encounter is a failure. Which is pretty cool

    • Incest is super taboo
This is not really a surprise but what I wound interesting is the emphasis on it which makes sense because it's from an island where the gene pool is limited to begin with. Most of the erotic stories that feature it are cautionary tales about how ignorance of the genitals can lead to accidental incests (doesn't need to be penetrative to count) usually between siblings. This makes even more sense especially in the past when sex-ed was perhaps not prominent, in a society that talks about sex in a hushed manner to begin with.

Also perhaps resulting from this taboo. Even sex between husband and wife needs to be performed in a secretive manner with fear prevalent fear of being discovered.

This wasn't brought up super clearly in the article but it could explain certain interest in pseudo incest stories where a family member fucks a sibling or parent in law or something. Something I've noticed is prevalent in other literature too. A pretty outrageous story which is about Wonofat (a trickster god oddly similar to Loki with his transforming abilities, mischievous nature and half god half human identity) who has a disagreement with his brother (for not allowing him to have sex with his wife?) and invades his sister inlaw's body by turning into mosquito larvae and having her drink him, where he then impregnates her and has her give a painful birth to him, after which he fucks her in her sleep every night while pretending to be their baby. The woman discovers that she has sperm in her vagina every morning but doesn't know the culprit but the god is eventually discovered by the husband because he still shits like an adult man.

    • Sex is fine as long as your not discovered
This was pretty interesting. The fear if being discovered seems to be ubiquitous even in relations where sex is expected and where premarital sex is fine. Adultery seems really popular too. But the biggest issue is how not to be discovered. Which makes risky encounters even sexier.

    • Getting around the woman's consent
Maybe because the soicatal norms are so strict around the woman's behaviour her concenting to sex is a huge obstacle for men, and a lot of the erotic stories and legends are about getting around this through various tricks, magic or otherwise.

Common tropes are somnophelia, and some variant of mind controll magic. If there is a risk of discover the better, like sneaking into their houses and haveing sex with the husban lying nexto her so she thinks she's having sex with him.

There is even a (detachable penis with full snesetivity):eek:ne is a bout an old codger who sees a woman collecting fish from a net in the sea. He becomes so depsarate for sex that he cuts off his penis and has it swim over to the woman who thinks it's a unique "fish" that also seems capable of speach and hoodwinks her into letting it penetrae her. Finding it novel she brings it back home to show this cool "fish" to her two eldest daughters who also have sex with it. And the story ends with the man dying from pain when the youngest third sister mistakes it for an animal and beats it to death.
    • Sex is the gateway to magic and the beyond.
While it is a human trait (pure Gods have little interest in it), it has a power over humans that is magical in nature and it's hard to resist its trawl, and there are plenty of stories warning that if the sexual urge is not resisted it may lead to death or sickness. Especially when committed with "sea ghost" some form of seductive bound spirit or creature which lures unsuspecting men and women. Thinking this is an early form of warning against stds, and encouraging self-restraint, while also excusing and explaining lack of restraint and anti social behavior through magic

Whelp it's late over here. Hope this was interesting!
