Best tagging practices?

hi!! im new to the site and was curious if there were any general guidelines on best tagging practices? that is, what format or # of tags tends to be best? i see a lot of variance across the site and i just want to make sure my stories and chapters can be found

There is a list of example tags here that are (apparently) considered standard.

I would also avoid the common mistake of adding tags that don't appear in the story yet, and are only planned. If you don't want to spend the time to completely tag every chapter, you can just tag the first chapter that topic appears in.

I recommend using not more than 3 tags per chapter.

 

Why?

Not a push back, just curious.

 

There have been talks about the issues with the current tag system in the past.
Most of the suggested solutions included the limitation of tags per chapter.
Though that's not something that is already decided or worked out.
