I'm looking to have some other authors help me with my story, Mars. The story itself is meant to allow for a wide range of possibilities, and can be taken really in any direction. I'm wondering whether it would be frowned upon for me to offer a small bitcoin payment for others to add threads to the story - say around $1-3 for every 250 words (depending on quality). Obviously its not a large payment, but for those who are happy to write, it might be a good incentive. Let me know your thoughts/interest.
Before you start pouring money into this, try attempting the tried and true methods of the community: 1.) Create a forum topic. This is your first forum post, and also the first forum mention of your story. People tend to look harder for stories that already have some bit of advertisement. This is especially true now that stories are approved for public view more rapidly - they tend to fall off the radar sooner. 2.) Supply threads for others' stories. A fair number of users have a quid pro quo attitude about thread submissions. All of your threads have been to your own story, which doesn't bode very well for someone seeking contributors. 3.) Offer a thread exchange. Take the mystery out the previous option and make a flat offer for it. If all three of these fail to go anywhere, then try the bitcoin offer.
If we see that this is creating a problem (such as if we start seeing that only stories where this is going on are getting additions), we might change our minds about this.
I echo Kaitou1412's encouragement to promote Mars in a forum thread with your hopes and imaginings for where it might go. You could maybe give examples of other stories or chapters you've especially enjoyed in order to give writers a sense for what you like.
