I don't know how hard it would be to implement but I was thinking that the chapter depth metric could be calculated by the longest story path possible without looping through the same chapter more than once. I have a story here https://chyoa.com/story/Hogwarts-School-of-Witchdom-and-Fuckery.19341 that is currently sitting at a chapter depth of 27 chapters but is probably closer to 50 due to it having some closed loops throughout the story. These are threads that are able to be skipped, but when they are taken, do not end up increasing the total chapter depth at all.

Not a major criticism, the site works great as is. Just a thought.

Well, loops make counting the depth pretty hard.
Only allowing one loop would most likely make it possible, though you would have to calculate that number every time you add a chapter.
Besides, that could be used to artificially increase the chapter depth. If you add 10 chapter links after chapter 10 which link to the Introduction, you would have a chapter depth of 100.

On the other hand, if you use another chapter structures, you could achieve a higher overall chapter depth by actually jumping over the skippable content.

Actually, according to the suggestion that would not add to depth at all, as you couldn't count the introduction twice.
