I have the impression, that chapters, which are converted to "links" that simply point to other chapters, but contain no text themselves, still count towards the chapter count statistics of a story. If they do, i feel like making extended use of these (i.e. for a game mode story) has two umwanted side effects: 1. The stories chapter count will be really high, suggesting a lot of diverse content, that simply does not exist, as perhaps half of the chapters link back towards a single main story thread. 2. It is bad for the author's profile page, regarding the relation of posted chapters vs. likes received. These links can not receive a like, while at the same the target chapter, even if reached by several different paths obviously can only be liked one time. Example for above points: https://chyoa.com/story/Favorable-Odds.11761/map?chapter=324355 So i would like to suggest, that Chapter "links" should not count towards the different statistics.
I agree and brought this sentiment up before. A thing I would add is that one of the way's I determine if a story is worth my time reading is the ratio between chapters and likes. It's not a perfect method as there are some stories that get likes because of gimmicks and what not but I do find the ones with a low ratio are generally not very good. So if a story has a bunch of links this will artificially lower the ratio and thus throw off my formula.
Sorry, i had not seen that the suggestion had already been made. If a moderator wants to close this topic here as duplicate, feel free to go ahead.
It's cool. Mine was buried down on page 4. Anyone broke nging light to this particular topic is fine with me.
