Corruption of Champions 2: Kingmaker

Been playing too much Pathfinder: Kingmaker recently (highly recommend trying out a vivisectionist alchemist). Also picked up CoC after an extended hiatus from the game and is currently working my way through the Palace of Ice - loving some of the new interactions between the main character and Kasyrra. Both have been fueling the itch to write something that combines both.

Have an intro post written up. TL;DR version is that 'you' are an adventurer leading a group to a largely uninhabited region with the intention to suppress bandits, exploring the unknown, delving dungeons, and establish a kingdom. 'You' will be plowing the land and the asses of the frisky inhabitants. At some point, the corrupted servants of Kasyrra will show up, complicating the situation whether 'you' resist or fall under her influence.

    Your destination is the Shrikelands.

A largely untamed region dominated by fertile plains. The bountiful rivers weaving through the land connect the everflowing Great Tarn of the Mistpeaks to the sea. A few days ago, before you set out, you and the others were offered a feast of marine creatures and algae fished by one of the few settlements that had managed to establish themselves there by your sponsor. You had to admit that you could see the potential if they were allowed to flourish. Underneath the lands runs flows of magma that have carved out a labyrinthine cave system and given name to the mountain range famed equally for its hot springs and treacherous crags. To the east lies the impenetrable Wyldweald, a majestic and ancient forest that few in living memory have dared go beyond the outskirts. You intend to be one of the first to delve deeper.

Centuries ago, before the Godswar that had ended the dominion of the Belharan Empire on the continent, the Shrikelands had been an inhabited region. The old and yellowed maps that your patron provided you with shows towns, villages, and castles dotting the landscape; if you wanted, you could follow the overgrown road you traveled on to one of them. The fact they now lay abandoned and in ruins was a somber reflection on even that legendary nation's mortality and fragility. Much had been lost. Hopefully, they would soon once again be filled with life, happiness, and dreams - under your rule. First, however, the land had to be tamed, and the bandit lords calling the region home had to be or driven out.

Your sponsor is a merchant prince of Aldre. In exchange for ensuring the safety caravans and bringing stability to the region, they would provide the initial investment for you to start building up a kingdom of your own. Of course, the offer came with a few other expectations, like being a good neighbor who relies on them for trade and paying handsomely in electrum. When you met and had the details explained, you were also introduced to your would-be rivals. Seemed the prince had lured a few other adventurers with the same promise. Encouraging results through competition, they had claimed. Some were now part of your group, while others had set out under one of the other braves' banners...

Elsewhere, in the Frost Marches to the north, a traveler is currently racing out Hawkethorne's eastern gate in pursuit of strange cultists in the hopes of saving a cat-girl and reunite her with her sister, Cait. Neither of them is yet aware of the imminent incursion of the bovine archdemoness Kasyrra and the role she will play in their life. Or her plans for Savarra...

Cresting a hill, you see the garrison that will be your base for the foreseeable future. Sections of the stone wall enclosing the buildings have collapsed, a similar story with the observation tower that has part of its winding staircase exposed to the elements. You have a sneaking suspicion a few of the structures are only kept upright by the crawling ivy providing stability. At least the caravan with the expedition's supplies should have enough materials, and laborers, to make any emergency repairs before they return to Aldre.

Inspired by Pathfinder: Kingmaker and the dirty minds of Fenoxo, Savin and Co. Highly recommend visiting Fenoxo.com to check out Corruptions of Champions (and its sequel), as well as the wiki for information about the setting. Contributions are highly welcome and encouraged.

Considering describing one of the rival adventurers and possibly one of the bandits operating in the area that 'you' start out in. Helps to flesh things a little. Open to suggestions on them, the Shrikelands and anything else you feel is missing or can be expanded upon.

Could also work as an RP, but not sure I'd want to GM it.

Thank you for reading and for any comments.

Is it okay to make a sequel to someone else’s thing? Corruption of Champion already exists, I mean. So don’t know how the rules goes to do a extension of it.

Plenty of fanfiction stories of all kinds, so don't see why not. Although it's fairly easy to change things around to make a generic version. Basic setting would be the same: Eating random stuff would transform you; inhabitants are generally a few notches lewder; outright hedonistic cum-hungry demons want to enslave and conquer everyone.

I haven't played either of those games but the concept here sounds interesting. If I understand correctly, you're taking characters/settings from both games and combining them. I don't see how that would be problem for the site as other authors here do similar things all the time with other media. Are you planning to make it a game-mode story?

Not sure I'd be able to wrap my head around the game-mode stuff. In the case of Pathfinder: Kingmaker, more thinking general premise and themes than actual characters, at least directly. But possible to adapt and borrow actual plot beats from the game (and its Pen-and-Paper Adventure Path counterpart), making changes as needed to fit it within the world of CoC2. Since this will take place concurrently with the story of CoC2 probably won't touch some of the main plot-relevant characters there, but others could easily find themselves around Aldre and the Shrikelands instead of their canon locations.
