As an owner/editor of a couple stories I hate to decline a submission without a good reason. I gave feedback on a recent submission on why I couldn't accept it -- it had a lot of poor syntax, misuse of third-person pronouns without properly establishing who he/she is, and jumping forward in time without explain how the character suddenly got into that state. In CHYOO 2, when we decline can we give reasons why without the writer losing their work, such as keeping it as a draft?
I would like to have that implemented as well. I had to decline a thread and didn't like that I couldn't leave the writer a message to describe why. I feel that without the feedback, the writer will have trouble understanding why the thread was declined and I don't want there to be a misunderstanding. If the problems are fixed, the thread could be resubmitted and possibly approved.
I'd probably use the Chyoa site messaging system now to discuss a pending submission, now that we have one as part of Chyoa Mark II.
When you decline a chapter, it is sent back to the original writer as a draft, with your comment in a grey box at the top of the page. They can then edit it and resubmit.
