I write incest stories and since the category has been taken off the front page the views have dropped dramatically. I know it's not the fault of the site, they've had to make the changes because of pressure from (insert name of narrow minded fools here) and they are doing everything they can to keep incest and the other affected categories on CHYOA. But it feels like my much beloved category is dying. In frustration I tried another site, one based in the UK that has an incest category. I've never published incest stories anywhere else and was very dubious, but the first chapter got over 1500 views and over 30 likes in the first 3 days alone. And I don't even have a following there, I was starting from scratch. But it's not the same, it's not CHYOA, and it breaks my heart to take my work elsewhere to lesser sites. But if the decline of the hidden categories continues then what other choice do we have?
I'm sorry to hear that! I'm working on a solution that might allow stories like this. Please have a little more patience. You can definitely use step- right now, and then choose a different category. These scenarios are unproblematic (stepmother, stepson, etc.).
I've been publishing an incest story myself the last few weeks, and I can confirm views have fallen sharply: it's only got about a third of the views my previous (also incest-themed) story had at similar times-since-publication. I am getting over twice as many likes per view, though, which makes sense: people who are more invested in the site will both tend to 1) have accounts, and 2) upvote. I expect the recent change weeded out the casual readers who never upvoted anything, as well as web crawlers. Unintentionally, I'm sure! But still. (It's also possible I 'doubled' my writing skill, I guess? But I doubt it. ) I'm not complaining, by the way! I write because I want to write, not because I desperately need a certain number of views. Just sharing another data point.
Is it possible to change category once a story is published? I was under the impression this was fixed.
This is what I need to keep reminding myself. I need to remember how wonderful it felt when I published my first story and got 5 likes, I was thrilled. But mainly, I write for me, I’ll try harder to keep that in mind.
Ah since you are offering I would like to have https://chyoa.com/story/Marcie-and-Gina-read-CHYOA.33882 changed to Humor & Satire I initially put it into the noncon category as a joke and while I do like the sound of power play, the lower visibility sucks. Thanks in advance!
Would love to have a link to other good sites too. I'm not sure about the forum rules for mentioning other websites, but I've noticed some of the authors here also post on lit, but seem to post here first. Apologies if this comment breaks any rules.
I feel you Dansak. All of the stories I'm writing have heavy incest elements and I've just lost all drive to keep writing them because it feels like the whole category is being punished. I know it's not entirely Friedman's fault. But at the same time I truly don't understand why it is an issue. Literotica.com has a huge incest category with no problems at all, so I don't understand why there is one here.
I'd like to mention again that the 30 day waiting period for new accounts has been lifted. Once a user has confirmed their email address, they have full access.
