Off the top, I should confess that I don't know how difficult this thing would be to implement, or even if it would be possible at all. I don't know how CHYOA's underlying architecture provides analytic data, or how easily it can operate upon it automatically.

That said, I was thinking it might be nice if there was a section of the front page that highlighted stories that were currently receiving frequent updates.

Both "New Sex Stories" and "Recently Updated Sex Stories" come and go pretty quickly, while "top sex stories" barely moves at all. A segment highlighting stories that have received, say, more than three updates in the past week could be helpful. It would point users toward stories that are still receiving TLC from writers and their accomplices, without the problem of stories getting banished to obscurity if they receive updates at the wrong time of day or get buried under a pile of "new updates" that are two sentences added to linear stories that are two chapters deep.

I may be a bit biased on this one.

This is superficially a good idea, but this:
summarises its main flaw. I don't believe that there is enough crossover between "stories that are frequently updated" and "stories that receive significant attention from one or more authors" to justify using such a metric. Most obviously, your idea would be yet another way of propping up low-effort, poor quality public stories that get spammed with 100-word chapters.

Additionally - and often users of CHYOA seem to forget this - Game Mode stories of certain complexity often require large, infrequent updates in order to function correctly. If an author publishes 50 chapters a month, but all at once, does it mean they don't care about the story? No - it means they care so much about it, they'd rather ensure its quality than let it get messy for the sake of attention. I feel that a 'frequently updated' section would be yet another No Game Mode Stories Allowed sign. There's a lot of effort that goes on under the hood in Game Mode, and just because it's unmeasurable, doesn't mean it's undeserving of recognition.

Between Recently Updated and Story of the Week, there's plenty of attention already given to stories that are frequently updated. I understand how your idea is different, but it's really just another spin on the same broad concept: stories that receive more chapters more often get more attention. I don't believe the minor distinction is worth it - take it from someone who lives in an odd timezone himself. I honestly don't believe this idea will have the effect that initially seems it might.

TL;DR: A Frequently Updated section would just advertise the same stories that are already prominent, with perhaps some very minor differences, and serve to further push stories with an unusual update schedule, such as Game Mode stories, to obscurity. I understand this is exactly what's trying to be avoided.

Frequently updated stories are already more prevalent on the main page as they appear in the Recently Updated Stories section more often than less frequently updated stories.

Thus, it would basically be a copy of the Recently Updated Stories section minus slowly growing stories that appear there more rarely.

Any story already in the Recently Updated Stories section already meets that criterion.

If you want to filter small stories, you could simply use the search, ordering by "Last Activity" (default) and applying a chapter depth filter.
