Hey everyone, I'm currently thinking about trying something in the HP universe and not sure if I should stick to Hogwarts (I have a idea to make them older when they attend their last two years by closing the school for two years during the Wizarding War (and then not sure how to handle the years of new pupils at the school) or if I should go to something post-Hogwarts (like a magical university, although there is the problem I'm breaking my head about if that wouldn't loose a bit the boarding school feeling from HP). And a second thing, adding own characters to such a story. I have one or two celebs I was thinking if they could join Hogwarts (not as celebs but normal students) but not sure how well this idea is. An alternative of course would be to create a own, unrelated magic school, but that would need to introduce the characters more. Maybe someone has a thought on that too. Hope I can get some feedback and thoughts on this from you, thanks in advance already. B.
Why not a story starring an anonymous character in that world? You could branch into interactions with the known characters (teachers and students) or just make people up as you go along. Celebrities as well (do an Ocean's 12 thing where the actual Emma Watson "who surprisingly looks like Hermione" joins and people get them mixed up for example) could be amusing. I think its limiting at times to use fully fleshed out characters but the new character can change things up.
Be safe and do after Hogwarts. There are plenty of shenanigans outside of the school that can be done with magic that's interesting. If you decide on doing the held back two years storyline I suggest making it a summer program so that only 18+ students are there.
