How can I improve the syncing between the forum notifications and my email?

If there is anyone software-savvy here right now, when I made my account, I linked the notifications I get on this forum to my email (because I can't just keep hitting refresh 24/7 to see every update), but I always get the email indicating a post or reply at least three minutes after the message was sent. As a comparison, when I'm actually on the site (and hitting refresh), I'm informed of a post thanks to the "alerts" thing in the top immediately. Is there any way to improve the syncing between this site and my email? My email uses Gmail by the way if that helps.

 

I don't know how that works exactly on the forum (and I can't look at the code), but I think that's quite normal.

So you can't do anything to speed up the emails but to ask the users whose actions lead to notifications to do that just before the next email would be sent.
