Is there a way.

I'm sorry; I'm not even sure what I want to say, but I'm going to try.

On a given day, I might feel like I can better contribute to threads with a certain person or thing.

I know that I can search for it/them. However, is there a way to omit the results from the stories that are in Game mode?

There's not a direct way to search for stories that don't have game mode, however an indirect way would be to perform the same search in two different tabs: once with game mode selected as a required feature and once without. Anything appearing in both tabs can safely be ignored, as it has a game mode.

It makes absolutely ZERO sense to do it the former, as I have made it abundantly clear that I don't want those.

If you do it in the former you don't have to check to see if something in your search has game mode manually. As I said, it's very roundabout.

    No it isn't.

You search for it with game mode NOT being included. It's THAT simple.

There's not a way to do that, however. Unless inserting ! before = works, but I can't guarantee that it will.

You're being awfully HOSTILE towards someone who gave you the RIGHT answer, @DrewHem1nger. As far as I know there is no way to exclude game mode stories directly, so OccasionalReader's workaround is the best option you have:

Search without selecting game mode and get stories A, B, C, D, E as results. This is all stories, both with and without game mode.

Search again with game mode selected, and get stories A, B, E as results.

Now you know that C and D do not have game mode.

Nope. In URLs, "&foo=bar&quux=oof" is a list of names and values. It tells the server "the value of 'foo' is 'bar', the value of 'quux' is 'oof'". If you change it to "&foo!=bar" (I think this is what you meant?), then you tell the server "the value of 'foo!' is 'bar'", but the server is looking for the name 'foo', not 'foo!', so at best it'll ignore it, at worst it'll throw an error (because ! is an odd character)

It's a workaround by your own words, but NOT the correct answer.

Then the correct answer does not exist. I know it's not the answer you're looking for, but assuming we have correctly posited the question ("how can I search for stuff that does NOT have game mode?") then it's the only answer that definitively works - the precise solution you are looking for does not exist and would need to be implemented by the devs, of which I am not one

Then it does exist, but you're not capable of doing it.

It seems like I'm not the only person who would want THAT option.

You are seeking for the specific solution within the story search for CHYOA, correct? This would be in your mind the sole correct solution, correct?

Then, since that solution does NOT exist on CHYOA, and it being on CHYOA is a required part of your solution, then the correct answer does not exist.

Don't try to make it more confusing than need be.

I wouldn't be posting here if I weren't looking for something regarding the site, & the FACT is that the solution doesn't exist.

That's ALL that needs to be said.
