Hello there, I want to ask question about publish here story, what I find on other side, with multiple autors and chapters. But in that page https://editthis.info/create_your_own_story/Dungeons_and_Dragons I can't find where are writers of original chapters. If I add at beginnig of all story, that is from other autors, it will be still plagiarizm or it will be allowed here? I want to do it, because chyoa is more comfortable for me to read and write stories. And autor who started that story years ago, delete his account and I have no idea how to contact him.
The problem it is that chapters are edited by multi autors and some of them delete their accounts, so I don't know who is the owner.
Well, if the specific authors haven't given their copyright to the site, you have to ask them for permission or not use their content. If all of them have given their copyright (specifically the part that allows them to decide where the content is shown) to the site, they might be authorized to give permission.
I'm familiar with the story (and, woah, clicking on that link brought back some memories). There's... a lot of contributors you'd need to chase up. Dozens, I imagine. Many of them aren't online anymore - the story has been around for something like a decade. I guess you can determine which pages have only been edited by active users, and contact them, but it would surely be impossible to get more than a few branches here and there. I guess your best bet is talking with the site owner (Platypus?) about who owns the copyright. On another note, when copying large amounts of content from editthis, I would be careful to check for things that break CHYOA Rules 1 and 3 (and possibly 2). Editthis doesn't have the same level of moderation nor the same rules as CHYOA.
Yeah, I'd agree with insertnamehere. Editthis has a reputation for having some pretty gnarly stuff on it, so it's best to check and be sure.
