Ok, I want to create another poll for my story, but I have already used my one thread in "Story Feedback." So, Three thoughts: 1. If I am just going to do a new poll, should I just do it in the general board, or is that breaking the rules? If so is there a more appropriate board to do it? 2. If I need to edit my original post, is is possible to zero out a poll rather than just edit the responses? 3. If this is in the FAQ, I apologize for wasting folks time.
I like to use strawpoll.com for story polls. Just put a link in whatever chapter is appropriate and give it a loose time limit. I think it is far more fruitful to reach out to the actual readers as opposed to the handful of writers that hangout here in the forums. Granted other writers will definitely have a different perspective than a reader (more craft focused) and perhaps that is what you are after. Not knocking it at all, I'm just mentioning what I like to do. In general I enjoy the sort of feedback I get from my readers plus I know I will be getting input from folks who know the story, like the characters, and enjoy the particular kinks I am writing about.
I don't think anyone would object to you making a poll in General or Author's Hangout, if you did want to poll the forums.
I'd say General or Author's Hangout In the Story Feedback section, there should only be one thread per story for good reasons. There is no need to discuss the same story more than once. (Though huge stories could be an exception) Though you could link to the poll in your Story Feedback thread. Not sure if it is possible to wipe and recreate polls.
