I guess this more for the game mode people as it's a necessity for that type of story. Would there be anyway to remove linked chapters from the total chapter count. For example True Fan currently sits at 102 chapters. However, a whopping 25 of those are linked chapters. So in reality the story only has 77 stand alone chapters.
Within a game story, chapters are usually longer with the same amount of content shown to the reader. The more linking chapters, the more content and work. I don't think there is something wrong about that.
I disagree. I have found that game chapters are often much shorter. Partially because you have to break them up for more choices and partially because you end up writing "the nothing happens" chapters that you would probably not write in a traditional story. Game stories get the double shaft in metrics because of this. In order to be true to your genre you have to write chapters you don't necessarily want to and that you know will receive few likes and your chapter to like ratio is lowered by having what amounts to hyper links counting as chapters.
All fair points. There will be probably only one metric (Views) that will be higher in comparison to other story forms.
