More Map Loading

Hello! I know that this is something that'd probably have to be done with the rest of chyoa 2.0, so I'm not expectin' any fast results here, but I figured it'd be good to suggest it now so that I won't be waiting for chyoa 3.0, ya know?

It'd be really nice if the Story Map loaded the entire map, or at least a lot more of it, rather than needing to scroll to the bottom and wait for it to load the rest once you reach a certain number of chapters. I'm not sure of the technical limitations here, but it does seem like once you scroll the load the lower half, the top half stays loaded, so I think and hope that means it'd be possible to just load the whole thing at once.

I've got a story with a bunch of chapters and choices all over the place, and I am a HUGE user of ctrl+f in the story map to jump around to places I want to go to. It's gotten to a point now though where a HUGE amount of the story isn't available to search through the titles of when I first open the Story Map, so it'd be really useful if the number of chapters loaded on the map was raised/made unlimited.

    Thank you!

I have the same problem constantly. ^^ (I usually keep a completely opened story map open and open tabs in new windows.)

Initially, the story map was loaded at once. On large story maps (back then, there were only a couple of stories) loading failed.
To fix that, the story map was broken up into 1,000 chapter pieces.
(I think that messes with the chapter numbers in some cases.)

I'm not sure if it will be possible to send everything at once but it might be worth a try.

If that doesn't work, I could imagine omitting the user action.
So you would open the story map and it loads the first chunk. When that's done, the page waits for a second or two and then requests the next chunk. And so on.

On the other hand, large story maps might also create performance issues with the browser. When I open big maps, the browser doesn't react as quickly as with any other page.

Some browsers/connections/computers might handle loading the map better than others. It could be useful to be able to opt-in to a complete initial load in Settings.

Or otherwise set what you initial load is, in maybe something like increments of 500 (possibly still with an option to just auto-load it all!)

Not a solution but maybe useful:
Depending on your browser, you could use
    CTRL+End
to scroll down to the bottom of the page instantly.
