I came up with a new story idea today! It is called The Moon Dog and the Dungeon. Anyone who has watched Sword Art Online will be familiar with players trapped inside an online game. But my idea was different. What if it isn't people playing a game? This world works like an online game, but the people are all themselves. Death isn't the end. Anyone still fit enough can be revived for a fee or by a party member with a revive spell. The story will focus on a member of the Moon Dog Guild. This guild is down on its luck and their Guild Master is dead (And still haunting the Guild waiting to be revived). So this member starts seeking out ways to bring back Glory to his guild. The "World" this takes place in is simply known as the Dungeon. It is 150 floors deep, into the ground with each floor being larger and more deadly. Currently only down to floor 30 is cleared. Each character has a class, some of which are special. The main character is an assassin, his guild master is a berserk werewolf, and the only other known character so far is a dancer. Each class has certain weapons and armor they can equip and different tiers and rarity for weapons and armor increase attack and defense for each weapon. I've put a lot of thought into this, but have no real experience with Online games, so if someone with experience wants to help set up some of the weapon and armor lore I would appreciate the help. I've posted the first page and about to start working on the writer info threads. This story is in the humor and satire area since I really consider it to be satire of actual Online Games.
Adding a link for lazybones such as myself. The Moon Dog and the Dungeon Depending on how heavyweight a rules system pleases you, you might try Dungeon World (Apocalypse World Engine for dungeon crawling). It's pretty lightweight; on this site, SwampThing's Slut World is very close to Apocalypse Engine for a sex hookup setting if you want to compare. Here's a link to a website based on the Dungeon World System Rules Document: http://www.dungeonworldsrd.com which might be worth a look.
Not going heavy on rules. mostly just trying to come up with a decent way to do the gear and weapon tiers mostly. Thanks for the link though, I will check them out. I actually read some of Slut World. Good story but I don't want to be that strict with rules and not using a dice roll. Lol and sorry when I posted this I didn't have the story approved yet so I didn't put up a link. Still working on the writer info threads before I get going with more of the story.
