When not fighting each other, Humanity was busy fighting an alien parasite called the Vrok’Tus. The Vrok’Tus tried to latch on to humans and mutate them for their own purposes. Fear of the creatures born from the mutations caused wide spread panic. Governments issued quarantine orders and marshal law. Fear of both the Vrok’Tus and scared Governments caused private organizations to take matters into their own hands. Soon, these organizations were at war with both the Invaders and their own rulers. When the dust settled, the Vrok’Tus had fled back into space, but Earth was devastated. The remnants of humanity used their dwindling resources to build five large colony ships to send their people to find a new home. The Ship: Exodus Over thirty floors with the bridge taking up the front of the ship and using half of those floors. The Tenth and Twentieth floors are dedicated to moral and pleasure. The Top three floors are high class housing. Officers and notable figures live here. Bottom floor is used for storage and shuttle bays. Medical wing and schools are located on floor thirty. Security has station all over the ship. There are security droids, but they mostly are used just for patrols. Human officers handle arrests and protecting the ship. EDIT: Artificial Humans: These are humanoid creations that are active all over the ship. While they look human, their hair and eye colors can naturally be shades that humans can't have. All AH have a tattoo on one arm that is a single letter and a series of numbers. This is used for identification. Example: Security AH would have S003 for the third AH in the Security line. Pleasure Worker would have P087 for the eighty-seventh Pleasure Worker. End EDIT. Characters: Captain Lance Vanger: Age: 36 The youngest captain in the 300 year history of the ship. He is head strong and confident. Vanger considers himself a bit of a ladies man and his conquests are numerous. Security Captain Lara Yuki Age: 28 Lara Yuki is of Asian descent and is the head of the Exodus security forces. She rarely gets to “Let her hair down” because of the stress of her job. Her people’s safety is in her hands. Security officer Blake Cain (Played by Patzo) Age: 30 Blake has been a security officer since he was old enough to wear the uniform. He is jealous of Yuki and wants to take over her position. He hopes that he can catch (Or cause) her to be in a compromising position and use the scandal to get her job. Doctor Felix Brown Age: 37 Felix is a skilled doctor, but has seen too many wounds from scouting planets that the Vrok’Tus had already taken. He is jaded about humanity’s chances of survival and uses whatever he can to drown his woes. Academy Teacher Alicia Lane (Played by duskford) Age: 23 Alicia is a young woman who recently became one of the academy teachers on the Exodus. She is outgoing and popular with the staff and a childhood friend of Yuki’s. Most of her male students find her very attractive and she is well known to many on the ship. “Pleasure Worker” Dahlia (Played by Yarkoz) Age: N/A Dahlia is an artificial human. Her body is humanoid, but much of her personality is pre-programmed. Like most AH, she was made for a specific job. For her, it is providing companionship and pleasure. She works on floor twenty, but has started to question whether there is more for her than just pleasing others. EDIT: Relationship info: Captain Lance Vanger: Knows of : Alicia Lane. Dahlia, aka P042 Height: 5' 3" (160 cm) Weight: 115 lbs (52 kg) Hair: Shoulder length, electric blue Eyes: Deep violet Skin: Lightly tan, her model number tattoo is on her upper left arm Bust: 35 in (89 cm), 32C bra size Waist: 24 in (61 cm) Hips: 34 in (86 cm) Construction: Light yet strong metamaterial skeleton of carbon fiber, Myometric(tm) polymer muscles, realistic silicone skin, soft polymer blend hair, synthetic glands that produce hypoallergenic fluids designed to mimic saliva and vaginal secretions Dahlia is a typical Pleasure Worker with a typical daily routine, but her client list does contain a few of the higher-level officers, including the primary medical officer, Dr. Felix Brown. She often spends her mornings prepping herself for her day, running self-diagnostics and maintenance checks, scheduling appointments for the coming days, processing the current day's list, and freshening up for her clients. When night-mode comes across the Exodus, her schedule is mostly clear, though she has the odd late-night rendezvous. Recently, however, she has been... thinking, not an unusual act for an artificial intelligence, but she finds herself wondering more and more if relieving their sexual tension is the only thing she can do to assist the people and crew of the Exodus. That is her primary function after all, assistance. These stray thoughts left quickly at first, but now they are not so hasty, lingering in her robotic neurology and creating thoughts of their own. Or, of her own. Dahlia is currently anticipating for her first client of the day by preparing her suite and bedchamber.
Security Officer Blake Cain I'm a cop. My daddy was a cop before me, and his daddy was a cop before him, all the way back to the launch of the Exodus. Soon as I could walk I had a beat 'round our apartment building, and soon as I had allowance I was greasing neighbor kids' palms. "A happy passenger's an honest passenger," Daddy always said, which means sometimes ya gotta know when keeping the peace is a better choice than enforcing the law. Maybe it was that unorthodox approach the Bridge saw in me when they picked Lara – it's only "Captain Yuki" to her face – for promotion. Well, that's a shame, but I get it's nothing personal. I'm happy for her to apologize once me and my well-earned Captain's badge are together at last. As far as appearances go, I'd be a hair over six feet if I didn't shave my head. My gray eyes are sunk behind a heavy browridge, but with the workout regimen Exodus security goes through, the muscles in my face are the last ones anyone wants to look at. I'm the sorta guy you'd think can go for hours, whether it's a fight or a fuck, and I've got references that'll prove you right both times. <EDIT, to stay consistent with Yarkoz's format: Height: 6'0" (183 cm) Weight: 194 lbs (88 kg) Hair: shaved head (natural color is black) Eyes: gray Skin: light coloring, number of minor scars Body: muscular, torso tapers below heavy shoulders> Speakin' of, I'm on duty at the moment, patrolling the upper floors for any signs of trouble.
Borrowing Yarkoz's example: Alicia Lane, Academy Teacher Height: 5' 6" (168 cm) Weight: 123 lbs (56 kg) Hair: Long, straight blonde hair that goes a few inches past her shoulders Eyes: Blue Skin: Fair skinned, with a few freckles scattered over her body Bust: 36 in (91 cm), 34B bra size Waist: 27 in (69 cm) Hips: 36 in (91 cm) Body: She's fit and curvy on the right places, works out often with her friend Lana's help Alica Lane has just become an academy teacher on the Exodus, responsible for teaching a few subjects to young men and women. Her carefree attitude to life makes her very popular on the Academy and amongst her friends, a fact that, combined with her looks, attracts more than a few wandering eyes, even amidst her students. She works hard at the academy to support her family, comprised of her sick mother Melanie (age: 42) and her younger sister Sarah (age: 18); her father supposedly died on a scouting mission ten years ago, a mission where his best friend, Doctor Felix Brown, was also present. Lately, her best friend Lana Yuki, head of the security forces, has been teaching her how to fight, something that may enable Alicia to take a position at the military branch of the Academy. When she's not working, she can usually be found in Lana's company or unwinding somewhere in the ship. Sexual history: She just had a few boyfriends before, aside from from very rare one-night stands. She knows a lot of her students want her, but she never considered taking it further. She also never had a lesbian experience, although she'd probably be open to it if the right buttons are pushed. She only had anal sex once with a past boyfriend, the experience wasn't too pleasurable, so she never gave it another try. Right now, Alicia is sitting in her classroom, waiting for her students to arrive for a lesson.
Dahlia, aka P042 Dahlia's first customer of the day comes in a little earlier than usual. It is one diagnostic officers from the Bridge. Normally this man, Michael Hendrick by name, is usually working at this hour. It might seem odd for him to have scheduled a time slot so early in the day, but the ship was currently keeping orbit over a small planet while engineers prepared some mining equipment. Many of the Bridge crew had the day off since the ship was mostly stationary. Michael was of average build, height, and weight, and his hair was cut short due to regulations with the Bridge crew. He was apparently going to spend his day off enjoying the sights and pleasures of floor twenty. He certainly had the credits for it. But he seemed off. He looked tired and he had signs of a beard starting to form. Normally the bridge crew were required to stay clean shaven, but the budding hairs on his chin told a different story. "Good morning Dahlia. It has been a while. Three weeks I think?"
Security Officer Blake Cain Things were normally quiet on the upper floors. These were the homes of the rich or important members of the ship's society. Not everyone was a cop or engineer. No, some of these people came from money back on Earth. They had funded the building of the Exodus and as such, they were the equivalent of royalty. The closest the poor remnants of humanity would ever see at least. Cain probably already knew that patrolling the upper floors was a cushy job most of the time. But that didn't mean that there wasn't some action every now and then. As it turned out, Cain rounded a corner in time to see a large man arguing with a much smaller woman. The man was easily recognizable as councilman Abe Hornsby. The woman, beautiful and half dressed, was Hornsby's wife Andrea. Cain could probably catch bits and pieces of the argument. Something about a pleasure worker. The councilman was well known for visiting the AH pleasure workers from time to time. He was a well known figure on the ship and his scandals often reached the ears of most of the ship's civilians. If they had been in their room with this argument, it wouldn't have been a problem. But Abe and Andrea were arguing in the halls. That would quickly draw attention.
Alicia Lane, Academy Teacher Alicia didn't have to wait too long. Her students started filing into the room. The seating was assigned, but one of the male students from the back took an empty seat up front for the day. It wasn't anything strange. Alicia had probably already noticed the stares her students gave her. Or the ones she got in the halls from other teachers. Most of the students were happily talking about the upcoming mining mission, or what they were into at the time, but the student who had taken the empty seat had pulled out a pen and paper and looked to be drawing. His name was Conner Dullin and he was pretty well known for his paintings. Some of his work had even been featured in a gallery on the tenth floor. From what Alicia had heard, it had earned him quite a bit of money. When the bell rang for classes to start, the talking mostly died down, but a few stragglers tried to finish what they were saying. It was starting out to be a typical school day already.
Dahlia and Michael Dahlia reanimated herself as Michael came in. She had been finished several minutes ago with herself and her suite, always mindful of early arrivals. She quaffed her hair into more of a bob than her usual shoulder-length cut, and dressed in a more retro style that once existed on ancient Earth called "biker chick." The faux-leather skirt wrapped around her flawless legs, pausing mid-thigh, and her equally faux-leather jacket covered a sleeveless top. (Apparently, its name was "wife beater," which Dahlia chalked up to long-gone barbaric attitudes.) So, in her spare time -- approximately 0.68 seconds before Michael stepped in, an eternity for an android -- she decided to run a quick diagnostic as she sat propped on the bed. She noted that it was the third one this morning in her personal datalog, and declined to copy the timestamp to her public one. Her quest to identify the fault that had clearly developed in her firmware had been futile, and that made her uneasy. Worse, she felt uneasy about being uneasy. Last time she checked, Pleasure Worker AH units never had the luxury of experiencing unease. All apart of the apparent fault. Michael's presence shuttled all of this to the background noise of her processors, and she recreated her fashioned smile, a mix of no. 458 (" 'Come hither' light" on the manufacturer's manual) and no. 179 (" 'Pleasure to see you again' 44"). She rolled her eyes down his frame, her violet irises almost prismatic even in the lowered light of the room. His stubble attracted particular attention, mentally commenting that it was 0.58 millimeters beyond regulation, and the luggage underneath his eyes conveyed an extreme exhaustion over him. "Michael," her light voice effervesced. Her vocalizers and synthetic tongue had no operational problems. "Good morning. Yes, it will be three weeks in 12 hours I believe. I had not expected you to be my first client today. Usually, you tend to be one of the last." She blinked, something about preventing a "uncanny valley" effect she never quite understood. "And may I say that you are appearing somewhat tired? Are you well?"
Dahlia and Michael Micheal seemed to relax a little at the sound of her voice. He took a few steps towards here and ran a hand through his hair as he gave her a tired smile. He blew out a sigh and answered her. "12 hours huh? Wish I had your computational power. We've ween working a lot of overtime lately trying to prepare for this mining operation. I swear we are still missing something, but I don't know what. I guess I haven't had a lot of rest and relaxation lately, so my first thought for the day off was to come see you." He was clearly tired, so Dahlia's examination of him was spot on. His eyes were looking at her pleadingly. Poor guy didn't have much of a social life apparently, if his first thought on his one day off was to come see her. Most people would take the oppertunity to see a movie or go drinking with friends. Hit one of floor twenty's popular clubs maybe? No, he was planning to spend some time with her and then probably go home for the day.
Dahlia and Michael Dahlia nodded, then paused. Her pauses were usually on so short of timescales that humans would never notice, but when she realized it spilled into the millisecond domain, she needed to say something. Michael was... very nice to her, wanting to see her, even after a very long shift. If she were human, she would see that as flattering and sweet -- keywords being of course "if she were human." That fault of hers apparently possessed certain opinions. Blinking, she crafted a new smile, just for him, somewhere between sympathy and expectation. She overclocked the processors of her adaptive cybernetics as she danced nimble fingers on the comforter to her side, beckoning him to sit. "I am always here to help." She steeped her voice into a breathy tone. Clearly her designers were pleased in duplicating that without breath. "I am intrigued however. I do not wish to offend you Michael, but, if I may, it seems that you came to see me over socializing with other humans. I am a Pleasure Worker after all."
Dahlia and Michael Although Michael didn't notice the difference in her pause, but he was very happy to see her smile and came to rest by her side. The man allowed himself to lean towards her a bit and his eyes closed as he allowed himself to be near her. He breathed in deep, either trying to let himself relax or take in her scent. When she asked the question, he went a little ridged, but relaxed again rather quickly. "Pleasure Worker... All AH were created to simulate humans almost perfectly. Sometimes AH understand humans better than we do ourselves. But yes, I was more interested in seeing you than going out with friends. I enjoy my friends but.... I'm awkward with people normally. Good with computers and programs, but when it comes to people, I suck. So I needed someone who wasn't quite human or computer. AH exist somewhere in between. Your potential could be limitless really." His eyes were still closed and he tried to keep his breathing level. A hint of a blush lit his face as he spoke, he tried to keep his voice level. He wondered if he had said too much, and hoped she didn't feel insulted. He really did suck with people....
Blake Cain It's early morning. The Councilman's dressed for work, while his fine, fine wife's still in her bathrobe. And the words "pleasure worker" are getting thrown around. I will never understand the need for rich shmucks to cheat on their trophy wives. She's not figuring it out for the first time either, he never woulda got elected if she didn't whip him into shape. So most likely he's too full of it to lie anymore, she's ready to tear him apart, and the gossip rags are gonna have a beautiful day with alla this. I slink back 'round the corner, scuffing my shoes before I come into view so the Hornsby's can pull it together before they've got to deal with company. They're waiting for me when I see them again, so I raise my visor and give them a big smile. "Good morning, Councilman! Mrs. Hornsby! I got called in on a noise violation but now I'm here I don't hear a peep! So many hours in the day, it's bad luck finding trouble this early. Is there some way I can render you assistance?"
Blake Cain As Abe Hornsby tries to come up with an answer, his wife gives him a hot glare before stepping up to answer for him. The frustration and anger on Abe's face are clear when his wife clearly steps up in his place. "Thank you officer. We are sorry you were called up here for nothing. Perhaps you could come around more often just to make sure there is no noise violations in the future." The obvious undertone to Andrea Hornsby's answer wasn't missed by her husband. Abe stiffened and looked about to reach for his wife until she shot a glare his way once more. Abe then cleared his throat. "Thank you for your fine work officer. Perhaps there is anything I can help with? I don't have any control over matters of security, but as a councilman, I can help with civilian matters if needed." Was he trying to make a counter offer to what his wife had been hinting at? Civilian matters mostly concerned the housing, food production and supply, and keeping moral up. Most of the attractions on the tenth and twentieth floors were directly under council control.
Alicia Lane As the lesson went on, Alicia noticed Conner switching between the textbook and the pen and paper from before when he thought she wasn't looking. She briefly smiled, thinking it was cute, if grown-up men sometimes tripped over themselves as she passed by them on the hallways, she guessed it was even worse for teenage boys. A sigh escaped her lips, all that attention sometimes embarrassed her, such as the time a fellow teacher waited for her to leave her classroom to ask her out in a very vocal manner in front of her students. Of course, Alicia politely declined and left to a work out session with Lana. Time seemed to be in a hurry that morning, and soon enough, class ended. Alicia said goodbye to the students and they started leaving the classroom. Just as she was sitting on her chair to wait for the next group, the sound of someone clearing their throat made her look up. None other than Conner Dullin was standing in front of her desk, a serious look on his face and a piece of paper in his hand. He seemed to be choosing his words, Alicia guessed. She could imagine what was going inside her young pupil's mind. "If I don't talk, he probably won't too." "Yes, Mr. Dullin?" Alicia inquired, as gently as she could.
Blake Cain Andrea Hornsby – Witty. Bold. Frustrated, and in more ways than one. I'd make noise violations with her all night long. Abraham Hornsby – Blowhard. Moron. Self-important. It sucks that he could be useful with this Lana thing. Aright, fine. Birds and bushes. "I'll see to it an extra patroller walks by in the early hours, ma'am." I nod smartly to Mrs. Hornsby, then wink with the eye her husband can't see where he's standing. One of us has gotta be subtle. To the Councilman himself I turn and say, "No need to thank me, sir, it's all part of the job. I should be thanking you. We could use more people on the Council willing to go out on a limb for their neighbors." He likes that, tubby stomach puffing up like he's some kind of hero. "Are you out on official business, sir? Allow me to escort you." Once we're walking I can feel out what he's able to do for me. If it turns out to be nothing at all, well, I'll be back here feeling out what his wife can do for me.
Alicia Lane Conner wasn't quite certain how to proceed. He of course found his teacher attractive, but he had never approached a woman like her before. So he fell back on what he was good at, his art. When Alicia made her inquiry, he tried to give a charming smile that came across more nervous than anything. "I drew this... Its, well, look." The picture was beautifully drawn. It was simple sketch since all he had was his pen, but still an amazing piece of work. The picture was of Alicia. She was sitting at her desk, holding a book in one hand with a very thoughtful expression on her face. The young man was looking at Alicia with hope in his eyes and the nervous smile on his face still. "I... I want to paint more of you."
Blake Cain Andrea gave her husband a sly look as the councilman began to head off with officer Cain. Hornsby was dressed in business attire, but lacked any sort of briefcase or attache that could be used for work. "I'm heading to floor twenty right now to do some inspections actually. We have a new club opening up soon. It is taking the place of the one that closed recently. I think it was called the Vertigo Club. Never went there myself. I prefer other entertainment on that floor. Now, as for my offer, is there anything that you feel could be improved upon?" Hornsby was in his element now. Bartering power and favors was something the councilman did on a daily basis. He simply had to find out what the officer wanted in exchange for staying away from his wife and possibly keeping him quiet about the argument.
Dahlia and Michael Jasmine and patchouli. Jasminum grandiflorum and Pogostemon cablin. Sweet smell with undernotes of musty strength. She certainly hoped it pleased him, because Michael seemed so stressed otherwise. She listened intently to his words, absorbing their complete meaning. She twitched, facing him as he nuzzled her neck. Her dermal temperature regulators flared into life, providing a sensual warmth across her body. His own apparently activated as well, as her infrared sensors recorded the slight increase of heat across his cheeks. Her regarded her automated responses, cocking her head. Clearly, this proved Michael, as careful as he was, very wrong. She was a Pleasure Worker, constructed for this purpose, and so her mimicry of human responses is simply her design at work. Such functions wouldn't be there if they weren't needed, a sort of artificial evolution in the AI world. That was it... right? Your potential could limitless really. She paused again. This fault of hers... "Michael." Her voice had flattened, but retained its lilt. She raised her hand to his face, tracing his cheekbone. "You are kind to me. That is not ignored by me. The difference between you and many of my other clients is relaxing. But I think you are mistaken." Gentle pressure arched him away slightly so she could meet his gaze. "As you say, AH are meant to resemble humans and react as humans do. You can talk to me very well. Logically, I think you can talk to other humans well."
Alicia Lane Alicia felt flattered at her student's proposal as she looked at the almost perfect drawing he had made of her. Conner was indeed cute, and could probably make a girl of his own age very happy. However, Alicia couldn't risk her teaching career by posing for a student, even if the whole idea of being a model for a day intrigued her. That curiosity was what caused her to not refuse it outright and hear Conner out at least. "Mr. Dullin, I'm flattered you decided to draw me instead of paying attention to the lesson," She said in a playful voice, making him look a bit ashamed. "Just what kind of picture you have in mind?"
Blake Cain Ah, the Vertigo. Their whole shtick was they cancelled out the ship's artificial gravity inside the building. Stupid idea. All those fluids floating 'round at "happy hour," not to mention it's risky enough getting between angry drunks when they're on solid ground. About time the health inspectors brought down the hammer. Anyway. What can Hornsby do for me? "Well, sir, I'm sure you agree our young people are our future..." I start my pitch while the roomy interfloor elevator arrives, right on schedule. "...and for everyone's sakes, we're more honest with them about certain recreations than our ancestors were with their children." I think I hear a chuckle under the clacking of shoes as we follow the line through the elevator doors, but it's hard to say. "They deserve an education in practical skills. Skills they'll use for the rest of their lives. Unfortunately, I hear that many of young people spend so much time with their tutors they're unable to work with their peers." I can't wait to see his face when he gets who I'm talking about. "No data to back it up, of course, all hearsay. But I think we can bury that sorta pseudoscience if we took a survey of young people of age. Hear from the Academy's best and brightest about their experiences on Floors 10 and 20." Here's the thing. Every coupla days, Lana runs by the Academy after work. Apparently she's got a friend who teaches there. What I need is to get reassigned to the Academy, figure out who that friend is, and see what dirt she'll dish on Lana. As for Hornsby, people know him as the guy who gets it up for AH's, and his wife sure isn't getting any. He'd get taken seriously again if somebody came out and proved AH's don't make you soft around real women. Doors would open up for him. He's gotta be a little tempted.
