The official guidelines say to not include html links in your stories, but I've seen a story or two that include links to pictures. Is this allowed? For example a link to an image of a character on imagevenue.com.
Friedman can correct me on the exact nature of the site rule, but the rule I personally follow unless told otherwise: Links to images of game boards: No objection. Links to images of characters and celebrities for fan-fictions: Pass, but a verbal description should be included. Links meant to simplify the process of describing the features (original characters' physiques, clothing, jewelry, etc.): Forbidden.
For example, if the story involved the board game Monopoly, there would be no objection to someone posting links to: The board The Chance cards The Community Chest cards In this case, links were included in the interest of aiding any prospective contributors. Once these links are included, all contributors can make more realistic threads, instead of having someone wind up going from Free Parking to St. James Place on a dice roll. I used Monopoly as an example, but Risk, Clue, Group Therapy, and many more would all qualify for the same reason.
I wonder if someone would be interested in graphically representing a story's progress for whatever reason. It wouldn't be necessary, but then I like to think the site can function ideally in a minimalist state and doesn't need to aggrandize itself as a flamboyant multimedia production.
I first became aware of this board because someone posted a link to Emma Watson story which include many fake pictures. I like to include celebrities in stories so I included them links to pictures of them in Love Party Britain and Decameron XXX (actually future celebrities heaving based on current ones) because I think it enhances these types of stories - after all men are very visual creatures when it comes to sexuality. I did not link to any celebrity fakes but I was definitely in 2 minds about taking that further step. For The Doctor's Black Book I linked to the wikipedia pages of the companions because it helps as a reference.
