I started reading this story entitled Lost at Sea and quickly realized I'd seen the exact same plot somewhere else before. Suspicious, I went digging around and found the original work. It was published in 2015 on another site by an author with a different name and is identical down to every word though it has been finished.

I left a comment asking the CHYOA author to explain yesterday but he has been online since then and has not given credit or suggested he is the original author.

What's the protocol here? As a writer myself I really hate to see this kind of thing. I'd be mostly okay with the user here even if it's not their story if they at least gave credit and linked the original.

According to the rules, giving credit is not enough.
You must have the permission of the original author and mention that in the first chapter. (Or mention that they are the original author.)

You can use the report button at the bottom of the chapter (open the horizontal ellipsis menu and choose "Report")
If possible, please include a link to the original material as it makes it easier for moderators to handle the issue.
