Well I just had enough of the toxic comments in the story I wrote. So I am just opening up this topic as a wall of shame for the douchebags. Yeah I've seen that guy around. He just constantly posts these aggressive, nitpicking comments on lots of different stories. I don't know if he thinks he's being helpful or clever or something, but they're never constructive.
yeah, I always think it's weird when people complain in the comments section when they could just write a different better chapter, but the ones who bitch and moan are often not writers. It's pet peeve of mine. If you can write better, do it!
You are not the first to complain about Mr. Borg, and you will surely not be the last. I have read many of his comments that are similarly disrespectful. I don't always disagree with him, but holy shit, it's like he's trying to phrase things in the worst way imaginable. That said, criticism is the most useful form of feedback. If a reader can point out flaws in your writing politely, it will only improve your skills.
Politely, yeah of course. Being a little bit caustic should be fair game too, we're all grown up after all. If only people knew the difference between a witty comment and a toxic one
Making a negative criticism is always tricky as some writers react poorly to even the most well intentioned criticism. I’ve found if you start off with praising something you like About the story it takes the edge off of your complaint. An insult though should in no wise be considered good faith criticism nor is it helpful.
