Maybe Friedman can help you restoring the chapters.

    Yikes. That would be upsetting.

I find authors reclaiming stories to gut them in revenge for the perceived slight of having another person take over their work intollorably rude and self centered.

There are three threads from you:

    1. Cannibals!

Anya found herself in a maze of wreckage. There were dozens, perhaps hundreds, of ruined trucks and cars, and one throughly exploded tank, remnants of a battle that had been fought here decades ago. A few scraggy trees and shrubs had grown between the wrecked vehicles. It was difficult to find her way in this labyrinth, but she had the pillar of grey smoke and the sounds of screaming to guide her.

As she drew nearer she could also make out a low, guttural grunting, like five or six men chanting something. Moving quietly she drew her sword and rounded the last corner to investigate. Anya gasped. She'd been afraid of something like this.

She was looking at a large circular clearing between the wreckage. In the center of the clearing was a fire pit filled with glowing red coals. Anya spotted six men around the circle, dressed in primitive tribal dress: loincloths, sandals and long cloaks made of the skin of some large furry animal. Two of the men were also wearing animal skulls over their faces and had colourful feathers sewn into their cloaks. A seventh man, wearing only a loincloth, had hold of a naked, struggling, young woman bound with coarse rope. Cannibals!

The girl was small, maybe six inches shorter than Anya, rather slim and looked vaguely like one of those foreign girls rumoured to have originated from the far east long before the great disaster. She'd had all the hair on her body shaved, and was strugging and screaming desperately as the slave dragged her nearer the fire.

Then one of the guys in the skull masks spotted Anya, bellowed loudly and gestured for the others to rush at her. As she took up a defensive stance, she saw the cannibals draw rusty daggers from beneath their cloaks. The slave dropped the girl on her butt and ran at Anya with his fists.

With her experienced warrior's eye, she quickly judged that the cannibals were probably poor fighters, relying on their fierce appearance, strength and numbers to win the day. She was the superior fighter, but seven against one would be very difficult unless she could even the odds somehow.

    2. A tough struggle

Anya retreated a couple of steps, carefully watching the enraged cannibals. One of the leaders bellowed something in a language she couldn't understand, and the rest of them hung back while the slave came at her alone. Her sword flashed quickly, and the slave collapsed silently to the ground. The cannibals hesitated; now they had an idea of her skill and weren't as confident anymore. But the two leaders looked at each other and yelled, and the six remaining cannibals rushed at her. Anya thought wryly, "Maybe they'd rather eat someone with a bit of muscle on her bones than that skinny little girl."

She parried the dagger thrust of the first savage that reached her, and ducked back into the labyrinth of wrecked cars. If she could keep the fight in confined spaces, she could take them on one at a time rather than all at once. The first cannibal attacked again, incompetently dropping his guard, and Anya lopped his head off with a fast and precise slash. This caused the others to roar in rage and attack madly, almost tripping over each other. This was good. An angry fighter is a stupid one, and Anya killed another before she was pushed back into a more open area.

There were only four left but the two leaders, who looked more dangerous than the others, were still alive. And she was partially surrounded. Now she was forced to defend desperately, hardly even able to deal out any attacks of her own. She had to be patient and lucky, and hope that an opening would present itself, but it didn't look good.

    Then something surprising happened...

    3. The cannibals fight dirty.

While Anya was parrying the attacks of two cannibals, one of the leaders quickly bent down. He grabbed a handful of sand and flung it at Anya's face. She was momentarily blinded and desperately lashed out with her sword. She felt a strong hand close around her wrist and wrench the sword from her grasp. Then she felt more hands grabbing her and forcing her to her knees.

Through tear-blurred eyes she saw the surviving cannibals standing over her. They roughly ripped off her leather bra and thong. Snarling, she fought to free herself, the firm muscles of her naked body cording up with effort.

One of the leaders began feeling her body, pinching her thighs, belly, ass and breasts. Anya's eyes had cleared enough to see him licking his lips underneath the skull mask. He said something in some guttural language, and one of the others reached under his cloak and brought out more of the coarse rope.

Before long, Anya's arms were tied behind her back, and her knees and ankles tied together. She squirmed and struggled, but the cannibals lifted her up and began to carry her back to the clearing. They dumped her on the ground next to the other girl. The leader who had inspected her leant down and said in broken English, "You, we eat. Her, no. Too thin; no meat. She is maybe a good fuck girl. Ha ha!" He laughed, sounding like he was choking on gravel. Anya glared back at him. The other girl was sobbing quietly.

@lordxorph @bison We can restore the story if desired.

Any suggestions to prevent the deliberate deletion of chapters in the future?

I don't know about preventing deletion, but how about some sort of notification when our threads are edited or deleted (so that we would at least know about it)? Also some way to view any of our threads that were deleted, so that we can make a copy of the text if we don't have one?

When threads are deleted, do they exist in a limbo sort of space where you have to use a direct web address to access them? I remember when one of my stories seemed to have a vestigial page hanging after it was deleted or something. Maybe writers could have an access page to all their chapters based on stories and it will tell the writer if the page is still part of the story or is deleted.

    Good ideas!

They are in limbo for 30 days after deletion. Then I have to go through the backup files and look for specific chapters.

I Agree that having a notification when someone deletes one of your threads or a thread in one of your stories would be a good idea.

I know my position is going to be unpopular, but I disagree with that idea almost completely.

There are almost as many reasons why someone might NEED to scrap entire segments of thier story or the story as a whole, as there are Authors on the site. Besides, if the owners cannot delete, they will simply vandalize.
