As proposed by 57 and clarified by me in another thread. It would be nice to have a system similar to the status we have here on the forum but on the main site profile page. It would offer a good way for authors to communicate with readers in groups rather than to have to message individuals or hope they would notice a comment left somewhere. It would also offer people an easy way to leave comments that are not related to a particular story with spamming à story via comments on it. It give a greater use to the profile page and the following function, because people would follow people they are interested in to be notified if they change their status.
Was recently thinking that I need some kind of Blog for my readers instead of leaving Author's Notes everywhere. This should do it.
I know this is an old thread but I came here suggest something like this. I'd love this or a microblog on the bottom of my 'about' page on the site. It'd be a simple way to let folks who like lots of things the author writes what's up since not everyone comes to the forums!
I don't think that there is a problem to revive threads on this forum, no matter how old they are. (This is surely different on forums where topics are quickly outdated.) If this is implemented, followers should be able to deactivate notifications from status updates.
I think that's a fair option. I'd even be cool with providing a specific 'opt in' by author for status updates. I'd just like a way to publically communicate with readers that doesn't require me to hope they wander over here
