I may possibly have discord friends joining, so I'll just make the info board a little earlier than I planned. I still haven't fully thought of the exact way of how powers should be distributed quite yet, and if it should be it's own point system, so this may be edited. Anyone having any suggestions on what's a good way to do it, are welcome to share their thoughts. Kind of copy/pasting the sheets from before, so shouldn't be too hard to follow. Character creation Name: Age: Appearance/picture: Gender: Personality/History: Skills: distribute 5 skill points to the skills of your choice. Maximum points that can be assigned to a skill, is 2 (for players, the NPCs will show far better mastery). Your character can do general skills just fine, though what they are good at requires stars. Every psychic type does have a free base resistance of one star to other powers. A two star skill will also give you a one star base resistance to that same type of power. Skills: Resist Psychic*(Free) Guns* Telekinesis** Psychic healing* Teleport* Powers: Still deciding if this should be kept to a separate point system or not. Equipment: Characters start with basic equipment - clothes, wallet, a weapon(If a gun, pick something that the average person might reasonably have.), and emergency items of their choice. Cash- Start with $1000 I'm not going to focus too hard on exact real world prices of things, but don't expect big ticket things to be too easy to get a hold of.
Name: Alexandra McKinney Age: 25 Appearance/Picture: Gender: Female Personality/History: Alexandra is a high school teacher, teaching English and the sciences to a class of rowdy 18 year olds. Alexandra has a genuine passion for teaching, but can't shake the feeling that her job is a waste of her intelligence. She's studying a double major in Psychology/Biology part-time, hoping to use these degrees to springboard a career in higher education. Alexandra presents herself as reserved, professional and conservative, but when she lets her guard down she reveals herself to have a highly gregarious and flirty personality. The teacher presents herself as straight-laced, but is in reality highly sexual, currently having an affair with the married father of one of her students. Since gaining her powers, Alexandra has been using her intellect and knowledge to try and academically discover the cause. She's been highly open in her investigation, which has made it easy for parties looking for those with psychic powers to find her. Skills: Academics** Resist Psychic (Free) Psychic Empathy** Telekinesis* Equipment: Normal equipment, small one person apartment, .38 revolver. Cash: $1000 (Can edit this depending on what you decide)
Ah, seems mostly good. Though....I don't think you particularly need a Charisma skill since it's more likely to be geared towards actions than a skill that just glosses over that. Psychic empathy, if I think I know what you're getting at would be reading people's emotions, right? Which would be a really useful skill to have. Academics makes sense, though I'm not quite sure what skills that really gives you to use. Tell you what though, if you can think of a justifiable way to get use out of it, then that's all fine. There is likely to be a few situations where that might come in handy, I'm sure. So I think Intelligence and Charisma stats aren't particularly needed since it's probably going to base itself on what player's do. The same way smart people can still overlook the obvious thing or make a stupid decision by impulse or even generally sociable people can still have days where they bit someone's head off. On the flip side, much like how I typically play my characters, every once and while, an idiot can have a good idea. Intelligence based stats might matter if it's for a specific skill set. Academics branches out into things like Science, History, and Literature, and all that complicated math stuff, so there's probably some good uses there. But it's not likely to help with anything mechanical or with hacking computers Also you'd automatically have a free point for Resisting Psychic(It might be trainable further, later on.) It's also probably fine if people want to spend a skill point on it to take it up to two stars(Don't get too confident that this will protect you from everything however.) So if Charisma gets edited, that gives you another point to spend on something.
I can get rid of charisma, that's fine. Academics I was thinking of having so that the character can research the origin of her powers, to see if she can get stronger through learning.
Wonder if anyone knows how to do that kind of bounty board thing for key characters, so we can set this all up cleaner, assuming we get at least a third person in. Like so people can have a space to refer to npcs and know what their skills are after being properly read or analyzed. Even with two, I could probably just start things anyway, but games are better done with a proper group, I think.
You might want to dm majus. Majus seems to be pretty busy right now, but is the one who did those bounty board things, both for the Bounty Hunter game and the npc section of the Star Wars one. It was some great work.
Name Jack Langley Age 19 Gender Male Appearance/Picture short, dirty-blonde hair, blue eyes, youthful face, athletic figure Personality/History Jack was a normal teenager just out of high-school, working as a courier in New York while he figured out what to do with his life. One fateful work day, a truck with bad brakes missed a traffic light with Jack right in its path. A strange sense of dread assailed him and before he knew what was happening, he jumped off his bike by instict, only to witness the truck mangle the bike while he lay on the pavement, dumbstruck. Since that day, strange powers started to manifest in him. Jack was an easy-going, laid-back youth, not taking much in life too seriously. He could be bright and logical when he put his mind to something, but his laziness stopped him from realising his full potential. Skills Resist Psychic * (Free) Hydrokinesis ** Telepathy * Danger Sense * Athletics * Equipment clothes, wallet, baseball bat (he's a Yankees fan) and pistol at home Cash $1000 Is that alright? I wonder if he should be one of Alexandra's former students?
Danger sense and athletics makes me think of psychic spider man, which sounds amazing actually. I see no reason that he couldn’t be an ex student, if Tjf is fine with it. I didn’t plan on a exact country for things to take a setting in yet...though that gives me a thought, I won’t mention what that idea is just yet.
Yeah, that was what I was going for. He's a bit Peter Parker, just without the wall-climbing, web-shooting and masked vigilante alter-ego.
Name Dr. Steve Cho Age 28 Gender Male Appearance/Picture Dark hair, slender, brown eyes, Asian. Personality/History Dr. Steve Cho earned high marks in school with his family wealth helping him obtain his career in the medical sector. He is a typical young family doctor. He had made himself a name in the city as a honest trustworthy doctor patients and colleagues enjoyed being with. One evening he was leaving the hospital stepping outside to head to his car. A storm was brewing above him. As he began to open his car lightning strikes him straight on knocking him out. Next time he wakes up he lies on a bed in the hospital he serves. Looking around he hears voices around him. He steps out of the bedroom wearing nothing but a robe. Looking around he can hear voices all around him even from people who are not talking at all, but thinking. Skills: Resist Psychic*(Free) Academic** Telepathy** Psychic healing* Equipment: lab coat, journal, small personal items, Audi sports car (He is a doctor after all) Cash- Start with $1000
Alright. Looks fine. Changes things up a slight bit if your character is a hospital doctor, but pretty workable anyway. I'll try making the opening soon...ish? When I can work up the mood anyway, because real life is being a jerk again. I'm not to sure what a high skill in telepathy would really give over lower levels, but I have to assume it might also let you probe at thoughts people aren't actively thinking about. Unisol has the same power at a lower stage, but I think both of you will probably be capable of speaking to people psychically, which has a lot of use even without getting to the potential for mind reading. Pretty sure it can be useful in a lot of ways.
I'd imagine Jack can only project his thoughts, while Steve can do that and read minds. Do they wake up all in the same hospital room or seperate ones?
Hmm, would it be possible to change Jack's telekinesis? That power hasn't awakened yet. I didn't know starting fires and the like counted as psychic powers (as opposed to magical powers). Or is that stuff kind of included in telekinesis?
Well Pyrokinesis is the ability to make fires mentally. The ice version being cyro, and the electric side being electro. I don't know if I should let someone just generalize as elemental, but picking one of those or some element they want is fine. I seen no reason you can't adjust it if you want before using it. There's generally a psychic version of most kind of magic things and some special ones, but while they want to list a lot of powers under it, I'm gonna have to call something like https://powerlisting.fandom.com/wiki/City_Intuition just way too dumb, but I think most things should be fine enough. You can probably find a mental variant of most things or just ask if you want help with finding something.
Hmm, what would purple eldritch blasts be like? Psikinesis? I think Psylocke does that, I'm not really that into X-Men. I mean, I already have the purple glow stuff in the picture.
I never paid attention to X Men, so I don’t know. Supposedly according to wiki her powers are telepathy which lets her manifest psychic weapons and telekinesis, so it seems like a case of writers just not understanding how the powers of their own people work since telepathy is just communication mind reading and telekinesis is more like an invisible force than an energy wave. I don’t know enough about X men to say. But enough telekinetic force could be pressurized into blasts and attacks when properly trained to do it, so it’s about how it’s applied. Pretty sure the colours are a rule of cool and so the audience can see invisible attacks.
Alright. I'll just stick with telekinesis and say it has a purple glow about it, then. And maybe once he gets some training down the line he can do purple force blasts or something to that effect.
