Hey folks, just tossing this thread up here so people can place any concerns, queries or criticism towards Quiet Streets, as I'm actively working on it again. https://chyoa.com/story/Quiet-Streets.759 Currently, I'm going through and trying to bring all the threads in line with the story bible, which I'm also in the process of writing. If you want your threads left ALONE, let me know, and I won't touch em. (I am pretty adept with handwaving, and I'll figure something out.) I'd be Remiss if I didn't mention that this story is far more than just my work, and I look forward to those who would like to add to this. I still remember the day that the player character first opened the door to the outside world, and never would have dreamed that the story would have gone this far or this long. One last thing. This story is admittedly a lot broader than it is deep. Thank you for 15 years of hard work, and I look forward to hearing your feedback and thoughts.
One last thing folks might like to know. Quiet Streets is the flagship story of my "Write One, Get one" or WOGO policy. If you have a Story on Chyoa, and write a thread for me, I'll reciprocate as quickly as I can. If you Don't have a story, I'll follow up your thread with one of my own, and try to stick as close as possible to your narrative direction and the options that you've given.
While I'm a big fan of your work on my own story and hope you will be continuing to add to it: I cannot support a story where non-consent is a central theme, I just can't enjoy that sort of thing...
No offense taken. There are quite a few paths where there is consensual activity, but the noncon theme definitely is very strong throughout the story, and it fully understand that it's not everyone's cup of tea. I'll do my absolute best to make certain that my threads on your stories keep to the lighter side of my work. My WOGO policy applies to ALL of my stories and threads, so if you add to one of my threads on another person's story,(Or take one of my threads down another path in your own story) I'll still write one for you in reciprocation, again, NO questions asked.
So, writing the bible, I've noticed that a few of the characters are a tad redundant. Several of the characters have very similar personalities and motivations, are in different threads, and except for minor details are very similar. I'm half tempted to attempt to consolidate, especially characters that logically would be present in both storylines, but were written separately with different names. Opinions on this, OR should I just leave it alone? ( I'm already up to 10 individual characters, and I'm not even through the first Male Story Arc)
I support merging similar characters by altering their names\appearance when necessary. And I'd absolutely love to see more interconnections between male\female and group\solo branches.
There are also a way to handle some inconsistencies in Colonel's militia descriptions here and there. Some group may use his name and reputation for their own benefit. Some characters may even claim that they are The Colonel (in case if we have different Colonel descriptions, I don't remember all branches that good)
IIRC, he's only shown up in one thread, at the Brothel. However, that is a great idea, and can be developed quite well in revisions. Thanks for the idea!
I'd say consolidate them where possible, too. If rewrites are needed, let me know and I can start those. And I second Hvast's idea. Kinda gives me an idea for that biker gang...
Whoot. If a character is slated for consolidation, I'll announce it here. As of right now, they're very old characters from the CHYOO days, but until the full bible is done I'm not going to start on the process. I'll work it in best I can. Only other thing is... much as I enjoyed fanficnut's ideas... execution was a little weak and I approved without really editing in the early days. I'm going to probably have to rewrite or take his threads in completely different directions.
No need to thank me. More work for you editing my messy writing later. I just wanted to introduce a branching point for a hermaphrodite character for guys who are into that stuff. May even write some of that myself. Swallowing loads of tentacle monster juices looks like a viable in universe explanation for growing a dick. (other possibilities are very rapid pregnancy or something minor like skin color change) And I decided to bring Gwen and Lea in the female part of the story.

Yup, was originally a reference to the Chyoo story "Secret Agent Sarah Banks"... It was one of the more popular and active stories when I started Quiet Streets, and it was suggested on the forum that I call my Virus the Black Tuesday virus to tie it in.

@brevdravis What are your plans for Ritter? (Character in the female leader branch) Few bits of my vision: 1) He was in a prison for a rape. Real one, not accused as he said in of the branches (he goes for raping far too easily to imply that he didn't lie). 2) Because he was a sexual predator before the virus he has easier time controlling his virus-induced urges than most males. (one of my ideas for the female leader of the group branch is a line where the marine that got her trust snaps out and go full crazie mode) There are nothing new for him to have a very strong urge to fuck someone's brains out an keep himself under control to avoid trouble 3) He is obliviously very attracted to the protagonist and wants her. 4) In the same time he likes her as a person, actually respecting her intelligence, bravery and leadership abilities. He is a male chauvinist and that makes him even more impressed and somewhat conflicted with his feeling towards her 5) In the same time he thinks she is far too soft to actually survive in the new world 6) He is very annoyed by the lack of respect from the protagonist and the rest of the group 7) He is considering leaving the group to survive alone, as he always did but he does see benefits of a team and knows that it will be to hard to make others to follow him. It is the main reason why he follows protagonist's orders when he opts for staying in the group.
Well, since I didn't create him, I say go for it! The Group survivor stories were added after the main branches, and I had very little to do with them. (I don't think I even have a thread on them yet. Oops...) I may just end up Copypastaing your vision for his bible entry, if that's cool with you?
