I was using CHYOA a while ago and got a ransomware alert after moving from one page to another within the site. It just popped up suddenly, computer generated voice included telling me not to turn off the computer. It did turn it off anyway and shut down my browser which got rid of the program (so not only was it annoying and scary but also incompetent.) Is this a common issue?
Depends what "a while ago" means. Maybe it was a popunder. (They are disabled since the Patreon goal was reached.)
Yeah, I used to get those on occasion before the goal. Usual way I shut those down is to close the processes for my browser. Usually seems to work if they start being recursive. I haven't seen one for a long while.
I apologize to everyone who has received these popunders. I did not know that they were so aggressive. Since we are now popunder-free, that should not happen again.
It was weeks ago. I just stopped coming back here because I didn't want to deal with them. Then I realized that it might be a smart move to notify the staff just in case it was a) Something that the staff had not approved. b) Ad that the staff had approved but were unaware of how horrible it was.
