Report For Moderation... :-(

I wish this thread had never had to be written, I wish even more that it didn't have to be written because of the story that makes it necessary but, alas, neither of these is the case.

The purpose of this thread is to become still another sticky for the purpose of reporting content which Violates the TOU of Chyoa, this can either be a last resort, such as if you run into an overly gory tale and want to get a moderators opinion on if it truly lies outside the TOU after politely cautioning the author that he might be in breach and asking him to dial it back a few notches: or in the event of a clear age violation or bestiality scene, as a first resort to protect the site.

Regrettably it is that second sort which prompts me to write tonight:

This story is lovely, brilliantly written, erotic as all hell, intense, moving, a real page-turner: AND... One of the two main characters, the female lead, REPEATEDLY insists that she's 17...

Other than that ONE fatal flaw it's a cunning and insightful "Girl Out of Water" story about a disturbingly sheltered young succubus lost in the real world finding a man and falling in love...

 

First of all, have you contacted the creator at all? While the author's long absence makes this a serious question (as opposed to a snarky one I'd normally ask at a time like this), the fact is this detail can easily be rectified with a PM explaining the site's rules and an edit from the author as opposed to a full deletion. And frankly, this edit is the preferred course of action for something this minor. As you pointed out, the story still works otherwise. Some users get involved in story creation without knowing site rules. Even in the days of CHYOO, we have tried to be lenient when it's just the underage rule on a user's first story since it's not technically illegal (even if it is a bad idea now that we're also image friendly). Moderator intervention, full deletion, and me being okay with someone going around the creator are typically reserved for pedophilia, bestiality, trolling, or plagiarism. On a story with underage characters that could otherwise pass site rules or potentially excessive violence, moderators are usually reserved for when the creator refuses to fall into line.

Second, we have a report button on threads concealed within the ellipsis located at the bottom of the thread body. We also have them on forum posts, PMs, pretty much everything. Clicking it sends a report straight to a moderator in that domain to deal with the issues (meaning I'm not notified of story concerns, but Torg isn't notified of forum concerns). Unless you've found a serious problem that moderators seem to be doing nothing about, this topic is unnecessary, and even then would be better served in a PM to a story moderator since that has a higher probability of being seen by parties capable of acting on it. If users used the report button and PM more often, we wouldn't have problems festering in the site that we didn't know about until it was too late to do much good.

Third, your concern is noted, and I have since PMed the story editor and hit the report button to ensure the people who can do something about it actually see the problem. Please pursue this issue (and all similar issues) via a report or PM with a story moderator should you find my actions went nowhere.
