Suppose that you have a favourite story which allows you to set the names of the characters (immersion variables) but... every time you leave the site, those names are erased. So, any time that you pick up where you left off reading, you have to consult a text file with the particular names that you liked, and type or paste them in. It would be nice to be able to just import those names, and save them out if you like the particular group that you have set.
