I have plans for two sequels to Shadow Hunters. the first is directly linked to events planned in the Carthin arc in the Rondo saga. the second involves enemies I plan to introduce soon in the miniature saga. My question to both readers and writers is this: Should I retire Venus as the main heroine for the second sequel? although she will appear in the first sequel, that story will center around three other hunters 20 years after the Carthin event. If I bring in a new heroine, what would everyone like her to be like? Keep in mind that this story will be five years after the original and in a new land. The guild has been invited to branch into a different country to deal with a growing threat. Old characters could make appearances if so desired. A good possible choice could be Jillia the dancing dagger or a new character altogether. If Venus is not the heroine I might use her as the head of the new guild to give her cameos.
For the story in question, Venus will now be 25 or 26. a child at that point would be too young. For the one 20 years later one of the three will be her daughter
Been giving this a lot of thought and finally decided on something for the sequels. It has changed from 2 planned sequels to 3 now though. For the one I had originally started off with, I'm thinking a new character completely with Venus filling the role of Master for the new guild. This will take place in a different country entirely and the plan has the Hunters working in both this country and possibly the nearby desert country. Fyrona shows plains, woodlands, and currently some swamp land. I'm hoping to use some new terrain to bring in more interesting situations that haven't been seen before. Writers I've been collaborating with have really given me some great ideas to work with and I'm hoping I can get them in on the sequels as well. The new heroine will be a Dark Elf from the desert country. She will be proficient with both magic and swords from the beginning, unlike Venus who even now still doesn't totally get magic. She will face hostility from not only the monsters, but also the very people she is trying to protect. This new land has never had a group of independent warriors like the Hunters before, but growing problems called for a new solution. This heroine is one of several who answered the call to arms when the Hunters put out word they were looking for recruits and for that her own people have disowned her. I'm still open to ideas for anyone who wants to help contribute to this new story or even the ongoing original.
