Since watching "The Rise of Skywalker" I've had a story idea in my head. This is pretty much it. A short time ago in a galaxy farther, farther away... The galaxy is in a state of war. After the destruction of the Republic Core Worlds in "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" the galaxy, without central leadership, devolved into chaos. The greatest storehouses of science, technology, and history were lost in an instant. Hyperspace routes, star charts, construction methods, industrial production, military and peacekeeping forces... all gone. The Mid-Rim colonies, without the intrusive federal government, now had direct control over their territories. Free to establish trade treaties and military alliances with whomever... and against whomever they chose. Regional conflicts spiraled out of control, galactic kingdoms and alliances were formed, fell apart, and formed again in an endless cycle. But life moved on. Eventually, the worlds learned to live with one another, stability and peace came to the Mid-Rim. Each world free to develop its own culture, society, and traditions as they saw fit. Thus began the Independence. The Outer-Rim worlds, without support and protection from the Old Republic, then the Empire, then the Republic fell prey to pirates, marauders, and roving warbands. They hired mercenaries to protect them, mercenaries who then turned and preyed upon them as well. It took centuries, but eventually, the Outer-Rim worlds found a way to fight for themselves and became powerful. They banded together, finding themselves like-minded. They revered and idolized the era of the Old Republic and a massive galactic community where everyone had a voice, and was protected. Their experiences over the long night convinced them that those days must return. Where the entire galaxy could join together in one harmonious and co-operative wonder. They could all protect each other, and no one would ever again be taken advantage of. Thus began the New Republic. Rey Skywalker never took an apprentice. She never passed on the knowledge of the Jedi, and their texts were eventually buried beneath the sands of Tatooine. The Jedi and Sith fell into myth and legend; only existing in stories of misremembered times. Force-sensitives were born, lived, did as the Force willed them to, and died. A Millenium passed after Rey and eventually explorers, one of whom a force-sensitive guided by the Force, discovered the texts and two lightsabers buried in the sand. It took decades, but the language in the texts was eventually deciphered, and the Jedi were born anew. It took some centuries more, but the fledgling Jedi Order, now dozens strong have promised their support to the New Republic, and the restoration of the once-great galactic government. By the will of some mystical and unknown energy field that surrounds, penetrates and binds the galaxy together, half the galaxy away archeologists from the mid-rim, on another distant rocky desert world (once named Korriban) discovered another set of texts. These other tomes once deciphered, taught another pathway to power that some would consider being... unnatural. Over time, mighty fleets constructed by the New Republic flew inward towards the Mid-Rim. Intent on bringing the light and wisdom of their beliefs to those once colony worlds. Together, they would all form one unified, diverse, and inclusive new community, where everyone was equal. They knew that once the Mid-Rim saw the superiority and righteousness of the New Republic's beliefs would surely abandon their own erroneous and inferior ones. Whatever they were. The mid-rim worlds, founded on the ideas that they would decide their own destiny took exception to the actions of the New Republic. Thus the Great Galactic War began. Unity, Inclusion, and Diversity against Independence, Freedom, and Self-Determination. Whose side are you on?
