I was thinking one option that I'd love as a reader would be the option to turn on a thread depth count on the option you are picking. So, for example, say at the start of a story... intro blah blah blah blah, stuff about general setting, storyline and finally the option question like: Where do you go first? Is your character male or female? With the appropriate links (male) (female) or (the bank) (the university) (home) depending on the question nature. I think it would be great for the thread option to say like Male (33) with the (33) indicating the deepest thread depth is 33 additional options if you choose male and navigate without any 'dead ends'. Thus maybe you pick option A but you see B had (23) options to explore, one can make a mental note to try that alternate path. Alternatively, if the alternate path C was only (1) thread deep, you might skip it. Granted, I recommend this as an option in the settings you can turn on or off...as it could reveal which options are like....'your character just got shot'.
I'd like this kind of option as well if its possible. It would make it much easier to follow threads with substantial content instead of running into a bunch of dead ends, . . .
In general I like the idea. But I think it could be difficult to count, especially in stories with links and maybe looped links (maybe links could be marked with "+" (i.e. 12+ if the link comes after 12 posts)). In my opinion "running into dead ends" isn't something bad, because if there are quality-posts, you can continue them. If you just sort them out before it would just quantity instead of quality. This option could also result in splitting post unnecessary often to gain a high value of own story paths.
