When writing stories, you can let the reader configure some tags so that {firstname} gets replaced with their name, {lastname} typically gets used to represent their crush's name, etc. These are of course configurable but I have an extra suggestion:... It would be nice to have a 'reader's gender' option, which defines a whole lot of different tags at once for use in the stories "Go and see what {he|she} wants" "I just saw {him|her} arrive on the boat. {He|She} thinks {he|she}'s something special." "That {man|woman} over there - bring {him|her} to me!" It's a bit hard to write a 2nd-person story in gender-neutral way, if your characters can't ever use phrases like "get him!" in their speech.
That's an awesome idea. I second this. You may want to have tags for genitalia too then such as {cock|pussy}, or just have the ability to have user defined gender specific tags. Perhaps allow variable based tags, e.g TagName{option1|option2}Variable(1|2) where Variable has already been defined. So for example readergenitals{cock|pussy}GENDER(male|female), or readerpronoun{him|her}GENDER(male|female), you'd then just use the new tag in your text, e.g I showed John my {readergenitals}. It may make for some hilarious errors if you make a mistake though.
I think, that it would be really hard to write a working story. Maybe useful for the starting of a story until it branches with the question of your gender. I think, it would be much easier to branch the story and copy the threads from one branch to another, changing one of them to opposite sex. +1 for this! I think this would be really good to have for gender-neutral stories. We could still branch where necessary (for example there's no point in trying to tweak a full sex scene), but common components where nothing really sexual happens would massively benefit from something like this. I've posted another thread about this, before I'd seen this one. I agree with Trugbild, this would complicate things too much while working on a story. Most stories are set with a particular gender for the protagonist on purpose or give choices of who to follow, so why would we even need this?
