Either I'm blind or stupid but I cannot find a way to switch the timestamps from 12 hours (AM/PM) to 24 hours (00:00 to 23:59) [It's called military time in the US?]. There's the time zones, of course, but choosing say MSK doesn't change the format. I just always have to do a double take at 12:xx AM and 12:xx PM. If there's no facility to change, I'm quite surprised nobody ever asked for it. I thought 24h clocks were pretty much universal on digital displays. If you agree with this, please like this OP so the moderators can see there's support for this. Merci mille fois, mes amis!
24 hour clocks and Metric. As a civilian American, neither comes intuitively to me. But, I wish both did. And I know both would, if I was forced to adjust. This change would be welcome to me. In general.
Well, that's how we're brought up. If you don't need it for your profession, you won't pick it up. Same for me with Imperial. If I was in some field working closely with American colleagues I'd probably make the effort to memorise the basics. Spoiler: Edit: There are somethings that use imperial even here, mostly computer related because the US was so dominant in that field from the 70s onwards. Floppy drives, monitor size are denoted in inches. And, of course, air traffic uses imperial worldwide (except Russia and China) with feet, knots and nautical miles. Mostly because the DC-3 became so universal after WWII and the instruments were imperial, naturally. And some old units have stayed in colloquial use but have been redefined to nicer fractions of metric units [1 Pfund (pound) = 0.5 kg for example] We only use the 12 hour day in speech and analog clocks here. All digital clocks and writing times is 24h.
I think it's fine for physical clocks as there's no ambiguity, unless you live underground or something, you will know if it's before or after midday by the sunlight. Also you can interpret the time between 12 and 1 as you like. Is it 12 or 0? The clock face doesn't make the decision for you like a digital display does. Also, 24h analog clocks are bit hard to get used to with midday begin at the bottom. Also, you can't use a 24h clock for navigation like a 12h one.
I was only really familiar with the 24 at the top versions. Having looked up some with 12 on top, those are really nice, I have to say.
More, certainly, but it's still a concern, you have to get to meals, make your appointments with the therapist, turn over your tools on time for the next shift, ETC, ETC...
