I've taken a big step, well, a big step for me. I am no longer publishing incest-based stories on here (Although I may update my current ones in the future). I only chose incest as a topic as the other top-rated categories on CHYOA like fanfic and fantasy were too far from my writing capabilities. I then kind of got stuck in the incest theme, I felt slightly typecast I suppose. I've also chosen to make the story more traditional in its form, so it will have a beginning, middle and end rather than being opened ended like all my other stories. Although I will publish it one chapter at a time, I've promised myself not to begin publishing until I've written the whole thing. And thus I'm experiencing the joy of new subject matter and a longer, more novel type form that is wonderful to write. The agony comes from drumming up heaps of willpower to stop myself from publishing before it's finished and a deep-rooted fear of the reaction it will receive given my departure from a reasonably successful run as an incest author. Has anyone else gone way out of their comfort zone or ditched a long-held writing style? How did you manage it? Was it successful?
