Okay first things first, I haven't abandoned my other story, this is simply another idea I've been working on.

Originally I was going to make this a straight serious story like College Retreat, but yesterday I had something about Film Noir come across my timeline and it sparked the idea to do this as a parody of hard boiled detective noir.

There are several ways to do this. Are the characters all goofs? Do they take themselves seriously? Are there characters who are over the top goofy, think they are serious, but everyone else sees them as an idiot (a la Will Farrell in Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back)

When I wrote the 2nd chapter i considered having a moment where the cops roll their eyes at the hero, but decided against it. Instead, everyone inside the universe really truly believes that they are playing a much larger role in the universe than they are. The one exception, is the ex-girlfriend. She's the Frank Grimes of the story, and she alone, not her family or any future boyfriend, is the one person who thinks this is all ridiculous. (this could change, but that's how I see her now.

The Carmen Mars character is really the hero's Girl Friday, and maybe the one person he could have a happy loving relationship with under normal circumstances, but of course this is noir.

If you've seen the movie, The Big Sleep, Marlowe is hit on by about every girl he meets. This will set a very different tone for this story versus slow burn build tension method of writing I used for College Retreat and in At the Cabin. While certainly the overarching story of the hero and the femme fetale will play out slowly, it won;t be 70 chapters to the 1st sex scene.

Anyway I hope you will check it out and appreciate any feedback

The story has been really entertaining so far. Like I told you in a message, it's amusing the way Marlowe treats his job like it's a matter of national security.

Thanks Duskford. This character wasn't what I originally planned but been speaking to me. already rewrote two scenes. I think the hero is a fun character, and hope he continues to be fun to read
