There was this new app on the Android "Grand Labyrinth Era". It was a free app, and we they were not kidding, not "Alegedly Free" or 'pay-to-win' it was FREE, you got out only what you put in to it, if you played hard you ranked up, if you were just a casual player you stayed low tier. Then the dreams started: people all over the world reported dreaming about being inside the game. There was a sharp drop in players but the game bounced back, for every two people who dropped three decided they had to try it. That was just the beginning though, because around midnight +9 UTC at the start of the 3rd of October 2016 in 'Dream Mode' there was a special event: if you could reach the tenth floor of the Labyrinth and beat the boss you got a prize beyond price: Your powers from Dream Mode would start working in the real world... You and your party were dead set on pulling that off, but then things went WEIRD. Suddenly everyone was back out in the waking world, but... not? Things got super crazy for a few hours then you all woke up... Hundreds of miles from home, together, wearing your gear from dream mode, and; able to use your dream mode powers? Welcome to the Abyss, get used to living here, because when you once look into this world within a world, you can never look away... So, yea, anyone who's read THE GAMER, this is the aftermath of the awakening of ARC COMPANY, except it happens in the USA, with a bunch of 3rd shift workers who are part of a party coming out of the broken Grand Labyrinth Era somewhere other than where they went to sleep, with only their Grand Labyrinth Era clothes and items. (Guess what, that DOESN'T include their IDs and money!) Good news is they're all imbued with THE GAMER's special abilities, bad news: homeless, jobless, on the opposite side of their time zone (EST) from home and in some cases in a different country, and as far as the feds are concerned, none of them exist... Welcome to the Abyss: please enjoy your stay, watch out for the human trafficking... This game is going to be run using a stripped down GURPS Supers system. You all start out with 400 points, up to 50 points of dis-ads + 5 "Quirks" as per 3rd edition, and a handful of advantages and disadvantages determined by me, (including "Zeroed (Special: re-zeroes 1 mundane identity every 5d6 days; original mundane identity unaffected, alternate identities created by Abyssal Brokers using supernatural abilities or anyone using mundane abilities which score a critical success unaffected.)", "Sense of Duty: Party", "Enemy: Abyss Human Traffickers", "Wealth: Dead Broke", "Starting Funds: 10,000$", "Signature Item: GLE set item", "Alternate Identity: Original Personae, (Conditional: Recover/Retain Original Personal Identification Items)", "Unusual Background: Grand Labyrinth Era Survivors"...) EDIT: this will use 4th edition GURPS rules other than Quirks... Players can get by with the 4th edition version of "GURPS Lite"...
Once most of the stats and mechanics are figured out, I'm definitely gonna need some help in designing a character. I got an idea of what I want to do, just not sure how to translate it to this system. I am very slow and methodical when learning a new system/game...and typically don't get much sinked in until I actually make a character, see how that works, and then play the game itself and practice. Conceptualizing abstractly isn't my forte
@Jizzrar : I can give you any help you may need once I get my computer back on Tuesday, but I can probably help with most things from memory, what do you want to know? Also: it has been brought to my attention by PM that some players would like to play non-humans. While I am willing to accommodate this idea there are the following limits... 1: only a few non-human characters will be permitted, at least 50% of the group must be human. 2: most non-human characters were formerly humans, and transformed because of the GLE event. 3: non-humans suffer several disadvantages that offset their racial advantages, posibly-including-but-not-nesecaraly-limited-to: 3A: "social-stigma: cos-play weirdos" 3B: "increased consumption" 3C: "reduced lifespan" 3D: "vulnerability: mundane areas" 3E: added enemies. 3F: loss of mundane identity from background package. The following races are available to both characters who were formerly human and always inhuman: Elves*, Dwarves*, Hobbits*, Hobgoblins*, Demi-Ogres*, Merfolk*, Demons**, Kobold Lords/Ladies, Orcs, Yuanti, Windigo; and any others for which the players make a good case... *(Including the following sub-races: Elves: Drow, Forest, Sea, Deasert, High, Moon, and Sun. Dwarves: Mountain, Deep, Hill, High, and Valley. Hobbits: Hairfoot, Stoor, Tall-Fellow, Lightfoot, Shirefolk, and Savage. Hobgoblins: Seiligh-Underhill (Native-Inhuman), Unseiligh-Underhill (Native-Inhuman), Military (Both), and Civilian (Formerly Human) Demi-Ogres: Air, Dark, Earth, Fire, Light, Magi (Formerly Human), Metal (Native-Inhuman), Spirit, Water, Wood, and Human-Seeming. Merfolk: Octo/Squid, Shark, Dolphin, Sport Fish, Eel, and Clasic... (Will have extreme difficulty fully participating due to aquatic nature without heavy re-engineering through GLE super powers...)) **(Various: including Sucubi, Incubi, Imp-Lords/Ladies, Eyrenes, Hell-Drakes, Vrakolai, and many others) The following races are available only to characters that were always inhuman: Dunkilons (Fish People), Draconians, Tengu (raven people), Goblins, Fairies, Slime-People, Trents, Giant Octopus (will have extreme difficulty fully participating due to aquatic nature without heavy re-engineering through GLE super powers...), Inteligent Giant Spider, Sidhi (Must pick: Siligh, Unsiligh, or Rogue/Outcast...), Ogres, Gnomes, Giants, Dragons (Various types; being a Dragon consumes most of your starting points...), and any others the players make a good case for. The following races are available only to characters who were formerly human: Half-Elf, Half-Orc, Dhampire, Drider, Half-Dragon, Half-Demon, Half-Angel, Mind-Flayer, Half-Oni, Demi-God (like being a Dragon, this will take up most of your points...), Dark-Soul, Bright-Soul, and anything else that the players make a good case for... Racial packages count against your character creation points for thier total +/- in terms of points, but are measured as a sum, not by their individual items. All race packages are designed by the players but must be approved by me and may be modified before approval...
I'm sorry, but due to a lack of overall interest and my realization that I don't have the mental Dexterity to run this game right now, this game is being canceled.
