The Nonhuman Chronicles - Escaping the Empire (Interest Check)

With the ascent of Emperor Lothoris III to the throne of The Stinitis Empire, many humans had come around to the idea that they were the superior species. Humanity was already the most populous species on the continent of Daestrora and this attitude had already bolstered the already powerful influence The Empire had upon the land. They struck out and conquered Kingdoms and Realms where various nonhumans once flourished. Finally, with the recent conquest of the Elven Kingdom of Saveneas, The Stinitis Empire has crushed the last major bastion in the world that was not based on the numbers and ingenuity of Man.

Nonhumans have often had a large amount of prejudice and mistrust among the human population, but under Lothoris III's rule; they have largely become second-class citizens and many of them have been enslaved to power their war machine. Dwarves work in the mines to bring The Empire riches, Elves and halflings work the fields and Dragons are used in place of work horses. Even the various fiends and demons that arrive on the mortal plane from The Abyss are often captured and put to use or imprisoned.

Not everything is terrible though. While nonhuman slavery is rampant, the majority of them can live not awful lives as second-class citizens in their own quarter of the cities. There are also rumors of enclosed enclaves where nonhumans live in relative peace...although these are highly secretive due to the fact that one agent of The Empire sneaking in could bring them down in their entirety as none of them are powerful enough to stand firm against The Empire. There are also rumors of some nonhumans escaping off across the sea...Of course, finding one to take you there would also be quite difficult.

So with all of these forum RPG's popping up, I thought that maybe I would just possibly take another stab at it. I've thought about a Stories of the Grand Empire re-revival, but I might hold off on that for some more time. (Maybe if this game doesn't garner enough interest.)


Who are you?
You are a group of nonhumans that have come together with the expressed purpose of finding safety in a dangerous and hostile world.

What system are we using?

Erm...I have not actually decided yet. I'm thinking something simple like majus' system in the Bounty Hunter RPG, but I'm open to suggestions.


How many Players?
3-6 players

What story elements are there going to be, and how lewd should we expect?
-I'm trying to aim for a fairly serious story. Themes like slavery and oppression will be pretty apparent. While most people might not care about the plight of the average nonhuman, some will make their distaste or sympathy obvious.
-The story is going to be narrative-driven rather than story-driven. there's an ultimate goal to accomplish, but it'll be up to you and your characters with how you find that goal. The goal is obviously safety...How you want to find that goal may differ from character to character. I'm not against characters dropping out because they found some "Happily ever after" (or the belief that there is one) and then the player coming in with another character. It may also be possible to deliver a blow to the heart of The Empire...Who knows where your story will go?
-Alignment can be variable. You can play an evil dick or a good saint. You're a motley assortment of nonhumans who just share a common goal. Not everyone has to see eye-to-eye. In fact, I hope there is a little bit of tension...
-For race, I would obviously like to see the vast majority of players be non-humans, but I would not be against at most one player being a human. Obviously said human would have their reasons for assisting the party of nonhumans...rather it would be to help them, or as an agent of The Empire...
-Sexy times and fetishes-I was originally going to have an 'anything goes' attitude with regards to sex, but due to varying degrees of fetish on the site, adding to your character a list of of 'No Way' options will be available. So if certain aspects offend you, just put it down, and your character becomes immune to these things.
Example: A character is knocked out, woken up to getting raped by a band of goblins. No Way: Rape. Your Character wakes up all tied up. With that said, your choices won't affect other characters, so while your character might not be raped, you may wake up to seeing some of your companions being railed by the gobbo dicks.

-Gender: You do you.

Character Deaths?
I'm going to say that character deaths are going to be unlikely, but possible. I'm not going to shackle myself one way or another. If you decide that cannonballing into that giant pitcher plant is a good idea, then have at it. Most encounters that are really truly fatal will probably be pretty obvious.

I'm not going to lie. I'm pretty hesitant at trying a "Nonhuman" RPG. It wouldn't be an exaggeration to suggest that *most* people are not into nonhumans. However, I have always wanted to do an RPG that focused mostly on Nonhumans. However, the more I thought about it, the more I realized that there are plenty of nonhuman characters that would be human enough that even those who aren't big into the "nonhuman" side of the story will feel more comfortable playing as. I wouldn't be surprised to find that many people who would have sex with another human would also fuck a sexy elf, or fey, or various other "nonhuman, but still pretty human" category of things.


Assuming there is enough interest, I'll post a page for the actual character creation in RPG Information. However, if it turns out that there isn't enough interest, I may decide on something else. Time will Tell and History Will Decide.

 

One thing that I have thought about doing is a Play by Post story on the main site in the vein of The Barren Lands. If people would rather have that, then let me know and i'll see what I can do about setting up the necessary infrastructure to accommodate that.

 

Oh, I was actually considering just laying off the next game to let someone else in instead of myself, but I already had the character idea for an elven paladin for a while that I wanted to do, if I can get in this. How nonhuman of races are we talking? I'd say the....whatever you want to call it system, is probably the best bet, since it seems like the one we're adopting for these kinds of games now, with some slight variations here and there.

I still don't understand how rpgs on the mainsite work if we do that. I distinctly remembering someone trying to explain that to me before, but being too dumb to get it.

 

It can be as human or as non-human as possible...as long as it's intelligent. If you want to run around as an angry, spiteful dragon you can, or as you're thinking an elven paladin would also be fine.

 

Alright, so I essentially have the bulk of my stuff ready other than deciding between high elf or drow elf(A proper dark elf.) So once the system thing is made, I can probably just put something up soonish since I already have the idea planned out for a while anyway.

Ah...hmm...

I found a few visuals that I liked, but can't quite make up my mind though it's kind of hard to find plate armored elf visuals to begin with.

 

What if I play a "good" dick, that pushes others around so they improve, and learn to stand up for themselves. Or maybe an "evil" saint, that goes around making others feel good, making them all incapable of functioning without my help?

 

I'm interested. I even have an idea for a character, though the details and backstory will have to wait until the character creation thread is made.

 

What are peoples' thoughts on what kind of system you want? Would you rather have a system with dice rolls, or something more RP-focused? I'm still debating what system to use and am trying to find inspiration in past PbP systems that were used here.

 

I really prefer Majus and Tjf's kind of set up, personally. Luck based with heavy die rolls tends to be more frustrating than fun to me personally.

Unfortunately i think a few of the regular RPers are too involved in other games at the moment, or aren't interested in the nonhuman aspects.

I still can’t quite decide on what elf she should be. High elf makes the most sense, but I can’t find visuals I really like, especially for blond hairs who I’m not crazy about to start.

I'm kind of partial to this one, but ultimately it's your choice.

 

Kay, got a good bit of it done. Other than being sure of what race. I like the dark elf look better, but high elf has more appeal in a way hard to explain. Skills might need a bit of rebalancing too, but that’s about all.

 

Also wrapped up my final edits. if it looks good.

I'm tempted. I just need to decide between playing a female doppelganger or male minotaur.

 

Oh, both sound good. Minotaur's are a classic thing....

But now I have a weird image of a giant eight foot minotaur getting fem dommed by like a goblin girl that barely comes up to his knees...
