Yeah, some of the chapters I put the most work into get ignored, some of the chapters I just dash off and think are terrible get a flurry of likes. I've given up trying to guess what the audience wants, but it's clear not all readers of CHYOA have the same idea of what makes a good chapter or quality writing.
It's related to the old story of getting bookmarked but not liked as well lol. The context is important. So far all my Chapters on this site have only been in one story and it is basically a smut story rather than War and Peace. Despite that I have included a fair number of character building and plot development Chapters that I have been quite happy with. Many of which get few likes. However short chapters with sex in them reliably get likes while the longer Chapters which provide context or are amusing or character building get only a handful. I don't think that's fair or unfair it just is but for your own sense of wellbeing I would consider the context of the 'like' and don't always tie it to the quality of the Chapter. (But bookmarking all the obviously stroke material Chapters and not liking is still poor form in my opinion).
Many many times. I wouldn’t get discouraged by it. Especially if you see people bookmarking chapters.
