So, I've been noticing that we're getting a lot of stories I can't read: specifically, German. Nothing wrong with German, it's a perfectly valid language: but I can't read it. And that got me to thinking: "Okay, if I can't read their stories: how can they read the on-screen instructions and so on? All the menus, and the prompts, and all of that?" Now I know that in the rest of the world not being able to read and speak at least three languages is seen as a mental defect: but... I AM mentally defective. I have a condition, you might have heard of it, called Asperger's Syndrome: and one of the problems it causes is that unless you learn a language in the cradle, it's basically impossible for you to ever pick it up. This can't be something that only happens to Americans, which means we need a mirror site for our German-speaking fellows!
I don't want to discourage the German (and other non-English language) speakers, but a mirror site might be a really good idea.
I have had the chance to translate some German work. Most of it I wasn't pleased with, but I am not opposed to the idea of any option that can help those who speak other languages. There those who can't speak nor write English that would probably help if we had some multi-language support here on CHYOA
I can't imagine that people would use the site if they can't understand English at all. Even if, they should be able to use a browser's translation feature to at least know what it means. I mean, English is a world language and I think that a lot of people have to learn it in school. That said, multi-language support could be a nice feature but mirror sites for other languages would be needless and would force multilingual users to have more than one user account and log in to different sites if they want to read or write in different languages. If it bothers you that foreign languages appear at certain spots, I'd rather prefer to be able to filter "Recently Updated Sex Stories" and so on by language (and other criteria)
For my experience, those kind of filters are always poor and end up filtering off lots of non-properly tagged stuff. Anyway, as much as it bothers me sometimes to see this stories which i can't enjoy on the front page, i really don't think it's a big issue. Also the only big enough community would probably be the German one, no point in mirroring the site for French or Spanish people in my opinion.
Some web browsers such as chrome will auto translate a site or story to the readers language which allow English speakers to read non English stories on Chyoa so i imagine the opposite is also an true. Allowing German writers to be able to read the main-page in German.
