So, I was thinking, what about a story where someone gets terminally embarrassed by being caught without their clothes, but JUST SO HAPPENS to have [insert macguffin here] which lets them make a wish, one that can't be taken back, that the second someone puts any article of clothing on, it becomes totally transparent... Nothing else changes, you can still feel it: a coat's still warm, shoes still protect your feet, and you can still see that people are dressed, because the clothes bend light, transparent not invisible, but effectively everyone is permanently nude... I've been toying with the idea that it's like a mystical infection, the wish targets a few people at first but anyone they TOUCH gets the lack of clothing thing too, and anyone THEY touch, and so on... Thoughts?
If you want to do it without any "magic", it could be kind of an infection induced by a drug, medicine or vaccine. (e.g. a bad lot of contraceptives or pain killers) It could infect the skin, spread over the whole body over time and could be transmitted by infected body parts. All clothes in contact with infected skin could fade to transparent within an hour or a day (the infected skin produces decoloration substances). It works from inside to outside (underwear first). The speed of fading could also depend on how tight the contact to the cloth is (a thin, wide summer dress would need some time, but if the person sits on a bench, the buttocks could get transparent very quickly). Maybe some kind of fabric (e.g. nylon, synthetic fabrics) could resist the decoloration effect. If it happens over time, people have a chance to hide the infection in the beginning by changing their clothes, though they will spread the infection easily.
The science of that seems kind of faulty, but I'll take it under advisement... EDIT: I do like the part where clothing becomes transparent gradually though: makes things more dynamic and diverse, but on the other hand I dislike the idea of any kind of fabric being immune or even resistant, I feel it undermines the premise.
Yeah, kind of Hollywood science ^^ Immunity was just about the idea to have some naughty pieces of clothes (like stockings) which would stay colored, though this would be inconsistent. (Maybe keep in mind, that some inventive victims could use black tape or sth similar to hide their private parts)
You can also go the cyberpunk way, futuristic world where everyone lives in augmented reality, people just go naked and make others see them clothed the way they want. Until some smart-ass hack it to see people the way they are...

Well could he have been bitten by a camouflaging octopus that was irradiated by cosmic energy and once bitten he develops the power of Invisibility (ala FF, specifically Invisible Girl). Oh and he can't control his powers. Also the whole Octopus thing is mostly for the tentacle angle people seem to love... Also this seems to fit a setting of 'Only Guy in a Women's Lit Course' and get molested by classmates plus the teach.
I've done a little ENM themed stuff... Not a dedicated thread or story to it though, just some scenes.
