Actually there is a story already out there called 'Pleasure Planet'. but I wanted to make mine slightly different. Actually after seeing 'Westworld' I thought of sequel involving the replacement of real people. And guess what? That was the sequel, although it was inferior to the original. My idea was for a more sexually extreme (within the rules of this site) world as a playground for the mega wealthy in which no-one would know whatever you got up to except the person you went with. You would never meet any fellow holiday makers. So I hit on this idea of worlds based on films where you could choose to role play or just go wild in the sand box. However when I started to look into it few films really worked on that basis. For example because one of the scenarios in the original was Rome I examined all the films set in the Roman Empire - well most of them are set away from Rome or are in the 50s swords and sandals period. There is of course the notorious Caligula and Gladiator but I am not sure I fancy either of those. And I notice that "Pleasure Planet" did film noir so I am wondering if I made a bad choice and should now go more generic and ditch the role play. Some of the areas I wanted were the original 3: Regency England (Austen or Hellfire Club); Versailles (Musketeers or life in the court); Late 20th century Tokyo (some chikan behaviour or maybe 'Battle Royale'); Star Trek (scantily clad planets or a nympho crew); King Arthur (damsels in distress); Ancient Egypt but of course they are many more. Of course having been through the logistics, I can't imagine that computer simulation would be much cheaper and safer, still I've got to remember suspension of belief instead of the consequences of scenarios. I wrote the introductory chapter but might have to drop the film idea.
The new series of Westworld is being filmed now. As it is being made by HBO and seeing how raunchy Game of Thrones can be at times it should be interesting. The makers described the new series as " "a dark odyssey about the dawn of artificial consciousness and the future of sin," That aside, have you considered a sword and sorcery type world? Sort of Xena/Jason and the Argonauts/Hercules styled environment. If the environments are populated with AI robots I would suppose it would be just as easy to build a minotaur, satyr, centaur or other mythical being as it would a lifelike human body.
Wow, I didn't know that ... and HBO. 'The future of sin' founds very promising. How appropriate is your name for this post. In my story I prefer using the term androids to robots. It does seem that TV of the last couple of decades is perhaps a better source. Spartacus, GOT, Boardwalk Empire, Deadwood, Shameless and even Desperate Housewives create full realized worlds (well a street in the case of DH) full of sex. You mention Xena. How about that with robot gods? I am not sure where this site stands (yes I know there's a link for the test) on sex with centaurs but I remember there was a couple of them on a yogurt advert and they were very sexy . I suppose that is why simulation provides more opportunity, because with the Westworld scenario humans are still humans - well I suppose they could press a magic button. It would also be a place for women and open couples to visit as well. 3D printing on a massive scale would allow environments to be built very quickly but obviously you would need a little more notice for character programming. There are actually 2 places in my story universe, one which only serves as a cover is the family friendly Super World which is more like a kind of Disney attraction with permanent android populated environments robot stories where it might be possible for some adult entertainment to exist, away from the children of course, and Ultra World where the story is set in which almost any kind of sexual perversion is possible for the people that have everything without fear of exposure.
Most of the female parts cast (Evan Rachel Wood and Thandie Newton for example) seem to be associated with a brothel in a saloon. Since the story would need to be set in a time a little ahead of our own in terms of technology I'd say magical or godlike powers could be incorporated into some of the androids by advanced technology. Holographic emitters to create illusions or visions, some kind of Tesla coil to appear as lightning bolts etc. As far as I understand it, any sentient species is fine. Since creatures like Centaurs and Satyrs and suchlike can reason and converse with people they are not beasts. I've seen that advert too, very amusing the way they only show torso shots of two beautiful women at the beginning then pan back to reveal the horse bodies later. Yes, the original film had a control room full of techs monitoring the action ready to initiate prewritten plot subroutines in the androids at the appropriate moments. Detailed plots for the visitors to experience might take a while setting up and putting into motion. A point in the new series might prove very interesting to see how it developes. At least one of the androids will become self aware and begin to doubt their own nature and the environment they are in.
Thanks for all the info. My story is set hundreds of years in the future and, possibly because I think of the original, I wanted to avoid holography. Gods do not necessarily have to be massive when they come to mingle. Also I thought to keep everything secure not only would people (limited and possibly exclusively to 2 per party) never meet but the controllers would all be AI. There of course a lot of stories possible if things go wrong. Sex with centaurs feels like you would be a long way from the human part whereas satyrs you're a bit closer. Female guests withe centaurs certainly feels like pushing the limits, but if it is allowed ... I was imagining a giant horse cock between the back legs, is that how it works? One thing I do wonder was running through my Tokyo scenario how I would make enough robots ... I mean if they kept moving and shifting position with special shuttle tunnels what would happen if visitors simply kept running. Yes I'd put in insurmountable barriers so they could not leave the area but to populate a city is quite ambitious if I'm not using CGI. So I thought I'd have very few subway stops and trains would arrive in Shinjuku station but never seem to leave and then there might be a special shuttle to the Battle Royale island. I also have at least 4 category of androids ... Sex, Interaction, Background and Messenger, although I might add Security, Maintenance and Target ones identified by coloured dots on the forehead which obviously light up at night.
