Do you ever get writers block? I don't mean the lack of an idea about what to write, but that you just don't feel like writing? There are times when I just love cranking out chapters for chyoa and then there are the droughts where writing is just a painful chore. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to these periods of creativity and drought, but for me, they can last for months, especially the droughts. What about you?
I have two threads that I'd like to write. One of which has been as a nearly completed form on a text file but I am completely stuck on just few details and wondering if I should rewrite it from the start. It's been that way for a week at least and now even when I have the time I lack the inspiration to struggle with it. ...The other thread is still on a concept level and I'm not sure if I should try to do that first before coming back to the first one. So yeah, writers block.
@raziel83, Thanks for the reply. That is another problem I have. I can get bored with a story while a new concept will come to mind. I tried to solve that problem with "Sandra Stories" because it allows me to create a new story within that story. Have you published either thread? I am not sure if "text file" meant it hasn't been put on chyoa or not.
I haven't published them yet. Once or twice I've taken too long to write a thread and the entire text had been lost because the session had timed out when I try to publish it... So nowadays unless I'm writing a really short bit I write a separate text file first and then copy paste to CHYOA when I'm done with it.
The current site has "Save Draft" which lets you come back and work on it before publishing a chapter or submitting it for review.
I quit writing my first drafts on here because of that. Before I did I got in the habit of highlighting and copying the text before I hit the save button. Saved my ass more than once.
I only write on CHYoA. I haven't had a timeout, but I don't linger on the post either. If I get stuck, I save draft and come back to it later. This keeps me from having to force something out while preventing me from dawdling. It does prevent me from opening up a new post sometimes because I get that feeling that I'm not quite ready to add something so don't want to go in just yet. So, I guess my area of procrastination just shifts over one stage.
