It's been Ren Faire season for a while and I've been getting a bit interested in telling stories in that setting. My current thought is to start with three perspectives of actors hired by the Ren Faire to make it more authentic, all have magic powers: Wizard - An actual Wizard who likes to use his magic to transform shitty performers and guests into sexy Ren Faire employees. Bard - uses his power of music to hypnotize guests and turn them into "employees". Elven Maiden - uses her seductive powers to make Faire goers not want to leave. What do you think? How can I improve on this or what might I be missing that people might like?
Great idea but how could you forget the damsel in distress needing to be rescued by determined faire goers or the knight in shining armor equivalent? Maybe even have the faire attendees disappear into a realm connected too another dimension. Either way just post and i'll be reading it!
Those suggestions have gotten my creative juices flowing. Instead of starting off with the Ren Faire in trouble the first chapter can start like this: Ren Faire season is upon us. But today a stranger is visiting guarnteed to have a good/liven it up. Then the branching can be: Generic Male/Female Bystander Rendezvous with the King/Queen/ or Prince/Princess Discovered and Punished Escape the Faire It's a trick(Transformation/Hypno) Buy stuff Cursed Clothing/Jewelry Magical Artifacts Take in a show Bellydancers Bagpipers Town Sheriff arrest you. Activity/Faire game Archery Knife Throwing Misc Damsel in Distress Getting into Costume/Role Wizard Save the Ren Faire Make the performers more authentic Perform magic Mess with Ren Faire Goers Make them their costumes Remove the time travelers Real Succubus/Nymph/Elf Shapeshift and seduce/kill Faire Goers Create evil kingdom.
I've been bouncing this idea back and forth in my head for a few days now and I think I'm going to narrow the scope a lot to save on time and length. Two characters: Rich(Richard) - Mid 20's, short brown hair, blue eyes, typical guy. Boyfriend to Kat. Kat(Katherine) - Mid 20's, shoulder length brown hair, green eyes, typical girl. Girlfriend to Rich. It is their first time going to a Ren Faire. They are doing so to do something new. As such neither of them know what to expect when they are sent free tickets in the mail. Little do they know that the Ren Faire is not just any Ren Faire, but a magical/cursed one that doesn't want them to leave. Scenarios will be the same as outlined, but there will be Mind Control and Transformation of normal people into fantasy/Ren Faire actors. Readers can follow either character or both as they get transformed. This will help me narrow down the options and not spread myself thin like I did with Dream Date Prom.
