Why do people make sure a big deal about AI stuff? You still gotta do half the work yourself so its not the cheat code its made out to be.
The problem with AI tends not to be the quality of the product it puts out, but how it produces that product. Generative AI gets trained on data that it gets fed by whoever is training it. So an AI Writing app gets trained on stories and writing found on the internet. The problem is that this data is typically used and taken without the permission of the original author.
From a consumer perspective, the sheer quantity is also an issue. AI can generate [i]alright[/i] content of the type that'll be familiar to anyone who's read mediocre fanfic. But it can do so at such scale that everything else risks getting drowned out. Fully half of the latest 40 posts on rule34.xxx are AI-generated, for example. I don't mind seeing some AI-generated, but half of everything gets tiresome real fast.
I've never actually seen or read 'A Christmas Coral'. Kinda want to replicate the story based on the few references I hear every so often...
