Haruka listens intently to her brother, playing with her long hair while he relays the information. Spoiler: Perception Roll 91=91 strong success As he steals glances at the Doctor, Tenma occasionally catches Sayen looking back at him between answering the questions of other pupils. Her demeanor is gentle and kind to each one, but her eyes always seem to find their way back in his direction. Spoiler: Stealth Roll 11=11 strong failure "Why do you keep looking back at her, Tenma?~" Haruka interrupts the boy's explanation. "I saw how she looked at you~" The woman next to him smirks, tugging Tenma back into the seat beside her. She leans into him, pressing her bust into his side. "I wonder..." Her hand slides down the outside of his shirt. "...Do you want her?" Her palm reaches his groin, feeling for a rather obvious sign of arousal.
Spoiler: Perception Roll 58=58 weak success So far, Haunani has reacted little to the contest. Her expression is neutral and sharply contrasts with most of the crowd. It is difficult to tell through the bodies, but Adam thinks he sees her hands clasped in front of her, almost as though she is praying.
Alex stands silently through Felicia's summons, though he seems slightly shaken by the dramtic appearance of Red Dragon Archfiend. However, as the fiery creature dives towards the lone caster, Alex interrupts. "I discard Honest from my hand." The monster card appears in the Graveyard on the monitors. Spoiler: Honest "My Magician gains ATK equal to Red Dragon Archfiend's, putting it at 4500." An aura of bright, golden light envelops the small mage as the legendary dragon swoops towards him. As the fearsome creature strikes the barrier, it vanishes into Felicia's Graveyard and she takes 1500 damage, setting her Life Points to 6500. At the end of her Battle Phase, Felicia is monsterless, rather than taking the early lead she expected. [That was great! Do you want to keep going turn-by-turn or try to compress things to take less time?] [Edited to the correct LP total.]
Raising an eyebrow in curiosity, the young duelist moves closer, hoping to get an earful of what she's saying in her prayer, or study her body language if it's a silent prayer.
(Thanks. I think we can go turn-by-turn since this is kind of an "important duel" where she has to show what she's got.) "Khh." Felicia lets out a low growl, I see, so he's intent on going for the attack. Fine, as long I draw another resonator, I still have materials for another set of synchro summons. She thinks to herself, looking at the two cards she had in her hand, which were the Red Familiar, and Red Warg. "End turn." She said in a curt tone, figuring how she can still stall things out for awhile with Red Screen.
Spoiler: Section 2 Roll Takashi: 23+10=33 poor Umimaru: 24=24 poor The duel continues with Takashi still seeming to struggle, though he does manage to avoid taking any more damage by destroying A Legendary Ocean, followed by swiftly destroying the Bugroth with the newly summoned D.D. Assailant. They pair of students steadily chip away at each other, neither of them having much luck. Spoiler: Section 3 Roll Takashi: 68+10=78 good Umimaru: 1=1 crit. fail After another handful of turns, however, Takashi is clearly ahead. He has banished most of Umimaru's monsters using the effects of his own D.D. monsters and a Dimensional Fissure which she hasn't been able to destroy. To compound the girl's struggles, she hasn't taken the reversal of fortunes very well. She fumes at her deck, her Life Points sitting below 1000 while Takashi's are at a much more comfortable 5000. Julia can tell that Umimaru has no hope of winning, especially with how frustrated her own Duel Spirit has become with her.
Spoiler: Perception Roll 9+10(situational)=19 fail Though Adam can see Haunani's pink lips moving, the shouts and jeers of the others surrounding him prevent him from hearing the girl. Spoiler: Stealth Roll 76+10(situational)=86 strong success Thankfully, no one seems to have taken notice of his working through the stands towards her, least of all the white-haired student herself.
Julia....was watching, noticeably with her smile faded into a more neutral expression. She did have to observe them carefully, at the very least. From what she gathered, she felt she could understand the problem fairly easy. Like most newcomer students, they all feel like they must be the best the world has seen. It's a humbling experience and not one that can be handled well to find out there's plenty of people just as good, or even better as you. But....she seemed to get the sense the two knew each other, in at least some capacity. That would make sense, since she had tried to prepare her deck accordingly. But that might even be part of why, she was struggling with something as trivial as a point lead clouding her judgment. That being said...Takashi wasn't exactly off the hook either. He fell into the same trap pretty early on, getting too easily frustrated. If he hadn't been able to use his strategy the way he wanted, who knows what would have happened. They were too focused on trying to play in such a single minded way. She made a single adjustment to her deck, but refused to actually change it. But it seemed less out of emotional attachment and more convinced it was already perfectly optimized. Both of them weren't bad exactly. Their decks synergized correctly and they knew how to utilize them, but....there was something bogging down Takashi's performance too. All in all, it was a matter of waiting for the final blow to come. Although... "Takashi has taken a strong lead. It looks like this match is set. However, every duel must have a winner and a loser. If you assume someone losing one game is proof of incompetence, you aren't looking hard enough. On my recommendation and pending approval, I think there's been enough proof of genuine skills and strategies to make an exception the loser be admitted into Red." Notably, she wasn't already declaring Takashi the winner, though she could take a guess. Uminamru definitely had the potential. She couldn't be allowed to slip through her fingers and into obscurity. She hadn't seen a kind of spirit with Takashi yet....either he wasn't using it....or...could it still be sleeping? Whatever the case, both would definitely be a waste to let go. If it was up to her, admittedly, she would probably allow everybody, but most likely the not-principal would only allow her to get away with a few recommendations than the entire block. But either one of them is definitely worth it.
Spoiler: Alex T2 Roll 14=14 very poor Spoiler: Felicia Perception Roll 17+20(Perceptive)=37 fail Alex looks down at his hand, frowning. Still, the green-haired boy summons after his draw. "Magician's Valkyria in Attack Position." Despite his seeming reticence, the quiet duelist goes to battle. "Silent Magician attacks directly." Not attacking with Valkyria, Alex ends his turn afterwards. Spoiler: Felicia T2 Roll 88=88 very good
"Think that girl has any chance at this point?" Adam says as Huanani finishes speaking, affecting a casual attitude as he leans against the railing and watches the duel, failing to introduce himself. He looks at her, and then does a double take, as if recognising her. "Hey, you're Huanani, right? I've heard you're pretty good."
Spoiler: Section 4 Roll Takashi: 56=56 average Umimaru: 22=22 poor "Did you hear that, Kuroki? You won't need to change your outfit after all." Takashi smirks as he draws, a grin spreading on his face. "I summon D.D. Sprite! Then, I tune my Sprite, Assailant, and Patrol Plane to Synchro Summon Angel of Zera!" Spoiler: Angel of Zera Spoiler: Spiritual Resonance Roll 30+10 (Spirit Taming)+10 (Situational)=50 weak success There! Julia can feel something from this card. Its oh-so-faint, but there's the slightest glimmer of energy within the Angel. "Angel of Zera, deliver judgment!" The winged being dives at Umimaru, the creature's projected sword phasing through her as the girl's Life Points drop to 0. She falls to her knees, punching the ground once in anger as the crowd cheers despite the less than stellar duel. [Great post, btw!]
(She'll be using her Tyrant's gaze this turn. Although she doesn't really realize she's using it.) "Hmm?" Seeing him frown, Felicia wondered if it was due to a bad draw, or because of he didn't get a reaction out of her after destroying her dragon. But either way, as he enters the battle phase, "I activate my trap card, the Red Screen which prevents your monsters from declaring an attack!" She said in a confident tone, either forcing him to use another card to destroy it, or save herself from taking any battle damage for awhile. Thankfully Alex ended his turn without any further follow ups, So it was a bad draw? She pondered, before starting her turn. "Draw." Felicia declared, showing a bit of surprise as she draw the Crimson Resonator. She couldn't help but wear a grin, "I activate Crimson Resonator's effect, allowing me to special summon it from my hand. Then I normal summon my Red Familiar, and activate its effect to sacrifice itself to bring out my Red Dragon Archfiend from the graveyard in defense position" Her tone slowly matched those of a tyrant as she began her combo. Spoiler: Crimson Resonator Spoiler: Red Familiar "Now I activate the Crimson Resonator's second effect, allowing me to special summon two Resonators from my deck to bring out Chain Resonator, and Sunkron Resonator!" As the two tuners appear on the field, Felicia's gaze toward Alex intensifies. "I then use both of them , and my Red Dragon Archfiend to synchro summon the Tyrant Red Dragon Archfiend!" She declared, awaiting for her partner to arrive. Spoiler: Chain Resonator Spoiler: Synkron Resonator Spoiler: Tyrant Red Dragon Archfiend "Then I activate the Tyrant Red Dragon Archfiend's effect to destroy all other cards on the field!" Felicia said in an intense tone, blowing up every card except for her partner. "I'll attack directly, then end my turn." She then finishes up with a direct attack. Leaving only the Red Warg in her hands.
The woman's hands fall to her sides, though she still stares straight ahead rather than look towards Adam. "No." She says, monotone, after a moment of thought. "She is too angered--ruled by her emotions. She is lucky to last this long." The girl smiles, the first non-neutral expression Adam's seen on the strange student, upon witnessing Angel of Zera's final blow. "Correct. Who are you?"
"Oh, I'm just one of the new intake." Adam says. "So, is that how you win your matches? Controlling your emotions?"
Zera. Interesting. Very interesting. It was more than just using a card that worked well with D/D's. From the feeling, he was probably not even aware of the connection himself or what that card means. Despite popular belief, Duel Monsters has almost no cards that have no story to them. That card. Zera. A card of possibilities. It was a card that represented not monster itself, but rather, what it could be. Spoiler: Zera A warrior who searched for the sanctuary but fell into darkness, tempted by a fiend's power. The fiend tempted him with power, warping him into an abomination. Or his search led him into the land of Pandemonium instead. And at least one possible outcome where he was slain and revived as a ghoul. Even when he found the sanctuary, he still ultimately fell into corruption by being driven by his hunger for justice. Or even then, still fell to the Archfiend's darkness. But Angel of Zera represented the possibility where he never fell. It definitely had her interest. However....just what was it, behind this card? Either the connection was weak because he was unaware of the bond....but....perhaps even more dangerously. It was because it wasn't the true form of Zera he was meant to represent. Unmistakably, he had the ability. It needed to be followed very closely, if this might be the worst case scenario. But...it was still possible that he could strengthen into his bond with Angel of Zera, perhaps. Just how was he going to develop? Fascinated, it took her a few seconds to realize he had even declared the final attack. "The winner has been decided! A strong performance by both contestants, but Takashi Yoshino emerges as the victor! Please, report to the dueling staff to have your placement determined." It was difficult to say, what the verdict is. If she had a hunch...not quite good enough for blue...but reality was, blue was typically just filled out by inherently wealthy students who placed well on entrance exams and test scores than any real indicator of genuine ability. The inter-school tournaments have proved that many times. But Blue certainly had it's fair share of genuinely competent duelists. Though....from her assumption, he might likely find himself in Ra. If he did, that would help keep a closer eye on it, but there was no way to know for sure what the final given ruling would be. As she found his name on the system, she ticked him for Ra, just to try and give a little nudge. That was too be expected, but as Umi's name came out she ticked for Red, knowing that it wasn't really against the rules but, still frowned upon to let too many losers in. Still one name, wasn't going to hurt too much. "Alright, next we have-" She paused, her smile returning more in full gear. "Well I think I already know the winner to this. The most anticipated star to rise-Adam Le Fay and the duelist of a thousand plans-Haunani Wen!" Truth be told, she never met Haunani once in her life. But it wouldn't be fair to just make her own personal project look good. It wouldn't look good to go into full detail about having taught him. They might use that to skew his placement. Besides, it would be better if he earned it more on his own than having her nudge the numbers...but she definitely was going to make sure he could get in.
[Alex will be using his own Destiny. Feels appropriate.] Unable to stop to Felicia's impressive play, Alex is forced to suffer 3500 damage from the Tyrant's devastating flames. The beautiful fortress surrounding them lies in ruins after the terrible dragon's assault. His Life Points fall to 4500 as he grimaces, left with nothing but a couple cards in his hand and whatever he can draw. The scarred girl's glare shakes him further, his face blanching as fear wracks him. On the sideline, President Yamagishi smiles and applauds, looking impressed by Felicia's skill. Spoiler: Alex T3 Roll 44+20 (Destiny 2)-10 (Tyrant's Glare)=54 average Relief washes over Alex's expression as he inspects his draw. "I play another Magical Citadel." The ruins are rebuilt in a instant, as though the dragon never destroyed them. "I play Dark Hole, destroying all monsters on the field and placing a counter on the Citadel," he continues, cautiously optimistic that the Tyrant might be vanquished. Spoiler: Dark Hole "I summon Breaker the Magical Warrior." Spoiler: Breaker A blue-skinned swordsman appears on the field in the smoldering spot where Felicia's partner once stood. "Attack!" The man charges, slashing at her and dealing 1900 damage, lowering her LP to 4600, almost level with the boy's own total. "End turn." He silently waits with bated breath for Felicia's response. Spoiler: Felicia T3 Roll 8+20 (Lucky Onslaught)=28 poor
Tenma swallows nervously. On one hand, catching the interest of a teacher could be a good thing... though Tenma knew his luck might make the good thing be not for him. He fights down the yelp as he is pulled into the chair, trying not to draw too much attention to the situation developing. The familiar feel of her breasts and hand on his body makes him shudder and thus her palm finds that arousal quite easily, Tenma shifting his legs in an attempt to hide the tent in his pants. It makes trying to answer her questions difficult as a large number of sensations duel in his head. To be honest, he was not sure what he thought of Sayen's apparent interest yet as he had only just met the woman. She was attractive looking, to be sure but he knew little about her so anything beyond that was hard to say. Haruka's second question was... complicated to answer as well. Did he say the truth? That might get her to drop the subject or bring about a different line of torment to "remind him not to stray". Did he say no? Or would that be punished as a lie? Did he say yes? That might simply lead to more taunting but he had seen that the eldest sister could also get quite unpredictable if she thought someone was messing with her "property". He decided to go with his instincts, hoping the first words that popped out of his mouth would be the ones she wanted to hear. "N-Not nearly as much... as you... sister," he finally gasps. Why did he have a feeling he was going to be quite disappointed in his instincts in the next few seconds?
"No, but it grants me a clear mind so that winning becomes easier to achieve." The match she was raptly watching now over, Haunani finally turns to face Adam, although it feels as if she is looking through him, not at him. "How do you prefer to win, sorcerer?"
"Tsk!" Felicia clicks her tongue as her partner is destroyed by Alex's magic card, followed by a direct attack on her, making them almost equal in life points. Lucky. She thinks to herself, as he ends his turn. "Draw." She declared, holding back on cursing as she did get another resonator, but its level was too high to combo with the only card left in her hand. I'll have to stall again. She thinks to herself, as she makes her play. "I summon the Dark Resonator in attack position." Felicia said her tone calming down a bit, but her intense gaze remained. "Then I activate the Red Warg's effect, allowing me to special summon it in defense position at the cost of cutting its attack points in half." She places her cards in the monster zone, letting out a sigh as she couldn't quite make any further plays, or even attack. "End turn." The red-head declared, having no cards left in her hands. Spoiler: Dark Resonator Spoiler: Red Warg (She'll be using her own Destiny next turn.)
Adam suppresses the urge to gulp as he meets her gaze, before he smirks. "Personally? I like to break my enemies' confidence. Seduction's also a good tactic." What the hell does she mean? "Sorcerer?" He asks, raising an eyebrow.
