Oooh! Felicia lets out an excited voice in her head as she saw her sketch, That looks better than I thought it would be! She exclaimed to herself, a little impressed she's managed to do this much. Though she was a bit weired out at the fact that the little fiend seemed to be staring at her as well. No, no, you're probably overthinking it. She shakes her head, she'd be able to make the Resonator come to life by just drawing it. "What do you think?" She whispered to Elisa, not wanting to ruin her work anyone. Since she didn't want to find out if the academy had a rule for bad grades equals no duels.
Spoiler: Commune Roll 25+10(Spirit Taming)=35 fail She finds it difficult to establish a connection with Valkyrus. Still, a distant voice, fading in and out, responds to her. Best...do is send your energy... Cannot...detail...spell book.
Smirking, Adam leans in to whisper to his neighbour. "Your jaw's dropped. You might want to close your mouth - I doubt the sight of your tonsils will appeal very much to bella Giovanni." He gives a low chuckle.
"More than adequate." The other girl whispers back. Even her whispers sound crisply enunciated. "Alright, class. Switch and let your partners work." The professor calls out to the room. She comes to check on Felicia and Elisa's progress. After a few seconds of evaluation, she hums pleasantly. "Good job so far." She moves to the students seated behind the pair of women. Elisa takes over the work, diligently sharpening Felicia's lines before adding shading, purposefully drawing even more of the viewer's attention to the Resonator's eyes. Finishing with a few minutes to spare, the creature's gaze has been softened and the dramatic lighting Elisa seems to have imagined leaves the piece with a stark shadow covering half the page. "Is this satisfactory? Do you suggest any changes?"
"Thanks, and good luck." Felicia whispers back as they switched seats. The red-head watches her partner work closely, Wow, she's good. It kinda makes me wonder what professor Labronte meant about this class being for non-artists... wait, was that just a trap!? Felicia's eyes widened, wondering what would have happened to her if she failed to even trace a monster card. Once Elisa finished, Felicia smiles, "That's amazing!" She replied, "I can't believe that sketch of mine can turn out like this." She adds in a whisper, "We should probably wait for the professor's comments before adding anything more. I think it looks perfect as is." The red-head nods, giving her partner a thumbs up.
Instantly mortified, the student in yellow buries himself in his notebook, but this fails to completely hide his burning shame. His eyes dart to Adam. "Um, thank you. I hope no one else noticed." He whispers in a squeaky tenor. Spoiler: Perception Roll 67=67 success The boy's eyes don't leave Adam's sculpted body very easily either. It seems he might struggle with paying attention to this course...
The connection was weak, but perhaps there was something in the book she had used. Healing magic involved transferring your energy so it was a bit of a stretch, but maybe it was possible to do between her link with the Nekroz? She wasn't too sure on the specifics, but she began to make her way to somewhere outside isolated enough to try.
Spoiler: Magical Resonance Roll 97+10(Double Spirits)=107 crit. success As Felicia looks at the drawing, the Resonator blinks. No other motion occurs. It doesn't blink again. Spoiler: Perception Roll 41+20(Perceptive)=61 success Elisa had to have noticed it too, but she doesn't seem concerned. Before the two can talk about what just happened, the professor announces. "Time's up! Put your supplies down while I check on all of your work." Alice starts by viewing the Resonator, obviously impressed by the sketch's quality. "Very well done. I'd like to speak with you two after class. Nothing bad." She moves on, having everyone place their work at the front of the room for the others to see. Most of the other pieces are nowhere near the quality of Felicia and Elisa's work.
It being the lunch hour, Julia struggles to find anywhere nearby devoid of people unless she wants to either retreat to her flat or use a classroom and risk someone walking in on her. Students and faculty alike are gathered in common areas and outdoors, enjoying their break.
"Don't worry, I don't think anyone did. Besides, you're cute. You can get away with more if you're good looking." He chuckles. "I'm Adam." The Frenchman holds out a hand.
What the-! Seeing the portrait blink, Felicia almost jumped off of her seat, What just, are we in that shadow realm again? She thinks to herself, looking around for anything else that might be out of place. But before she could speak, Alice returns to congratulate them. "A-ah, thank you, professor. I just sketched it, Elisa did most of the work." She replied, giving her partner another compliment. But as Alice left to check the other students work, the red-head leans toward Elisa, "You saw that too, right? The resonator... blinked its eyes." She whispered in a slightly cautious tone, thanks to her shadow duel experience yesterday.
Weighing her options, she figures it would be best to use the privacy of her quarters. (Sorry for the poor responses today. Can't focus at all.)
The other student shakes Adam's hand, face red as beets. "Alex." The professor interrupts them. "I'm glad you're all getting to know your lab partners-" He gives pointed looks at a couple groups, including Adam and Alex. "-but here's the part I really need you to start taking notes on. I'm sure you all remember what a cell is." Giovanni sets a Duel Monsters card, Giant Germ, on the podium in front of him. A projection of a large cell floats beside him. Spoiler: Giant Germ "You see all those tentacles sticking out of it? Those are called cilia..." He talks about the various organelles and structures of a cell for the remainder of the class, adding more detail than Adam's high school biology class covered. Spoiler: Learn Roll 18=18 fail It's a lot to memorize all at once, but Adam's confident he'll get it all down eventually.
Elisa gives Felicia a questioning look. "I did not realize you are magically sensitive." She blinks. "I imbued the creation with a fragment of my power, primarily to amuse myself." The young woman smiles thinly. "You hail from the Matthews family? I did not expect magic to flow within your blood. What do you specialize in?"
"Wait, you did that?" Felicia gasped, "I, uh don't really know much about magic. It's just... certain events have... opened my eyes." She replied, trying to avoid talking about what happened yesterday. "I don't think it runs in my family to be honest. I think I just got... lucky?" She added, giving a shaky smile, "Specialize in... like what kind of magic I can use?" Felicia tilts her head, "I don't really know..."
Adam yawns, not following the biology, though he does jot down some pros and cons of Giant Germ so he can decide later if it's worth adding to his deck.
[No need to apologize. They've been good. For that one I just needed to know where Julia would prefer to go.] Finding her flat just as she left it, Julia starts scanning the ancient book on healing magic for anything helpful. Spoiler: Research Roll 55+20(Sorceress)+10(Intelligence)=85 success After a short while, she finds a ritual which allows her to send energy from the Realm of Spirits. A few materials are required--namely, a circular symbol made with chalk or a similar medium, a source of heat such as a candle, and an item related to the spirit requiring energy. The chalk symbol channels the energy as a stream. The source of heat initiates the transfer of energy from one being to another. The spirit-related item ensures the correct being receives the energy.
"You are a untrained novice. I understand." Elisa nods. "I personally possess an affinity with illusions." She makes the Resonator sketch blink again. "Do you have a mentor in the magical arts?"
The class ends uneventfully, though Adam sees Alex taking glancing at him and the professor whenever the Ra Yellow student gets the chance. He hurries to pack his things and join the small crowd exiting the room. With the last of the more tedious classes out of the way, Adam has an hour-long break until he has Sensuality and Civilization with Julia Meri at 1:00 PM.
"Something like that." Felicia nods, a bit surprised that the Resonator blinks again, "Wow, that's awesome." She giggles, "No, I don't have a mentor. I don't think I can use magic. My... uh, partner just helps a bit."
