Pulling out his phone, he takes the photo and sends it to Yumi, before heading out to sit with Alex. (Sorry for the lackluster post.)
Val? Was it a result of him being invigorated inadvertently? That didn't sound right. But she could definitely feel the drain. The ritual had some kind of effect. She wasn't quite sure how much to expend. Even knowing the ritual didn't change there were still limits to her body. Despite knowing how to do it, she didn't have the ability to draw out the Nekroz's full power. She just had to hope this would be enough. There was wisdom in knowing when to stop. She could always take time to recover and give power late. Nothing would be achieved if she's dead. Still, she did aim to offer as much as she could before it would become totally life threatening.
The cafeteria is rather simple and packed with students of all three dorms. Spoiler: Cafeteria A variety of food options are available, from salad, fruit, and simple sandwiches to the rotating daily special--curry, for today. Elisa leads Felicia to the counter, getting a small garden salad and curry with rice for herself.
"Hmm, and here I thought we'd have a fancy buffet." Felicia mumbled as they reached the cafeteria, now even more unsure how exactly the school spends its budget. After all, we did have a butler of all things back in the dorm... But as Elisa leads her to the counter, Felicia picks out a curry rice meal as well, along with some fruit. Once they find a table to sit down and place their trays, "So... about earlier, when you asked for my family name. You seemed upset. Can you tell me about it?" The red-head asks, "Ah, but if you're uncomfortable, you don't have to."
A barista, wearing a white apron, comes to the table as Adam joins the other young man. Spoiler: Barista "What can I get you?" She asks, chipper. "Green tea and...one of the sandwiches, please." Alex orders meekly. A good start, but your task is not yet complete. Adam receives a reply after a couple minutes.
I am here. Thank you. Julia hears the voice, still the younger sounding one, chant an incantation, then the sound of flash-freezing. Energy continues to flow from Julia's form and to the spirit. You must have questions, but now is not the time. Another few minutes later, Julia feels the strain threatening to render her unconscious with exhaustion. She severs the connection, terminating the spell.
"It is rather quaint. And quite loud." Elisa sighs, sitting across from Felicia. The Ra Yellow student makes sure she sits with her back against the wall. She delicately eats a bite of salad. "My family name and position as heir apparent carries certain...risks which accompany the station. I must be careful to remain vigilant in order to protect myself and my family's reputation."
"Oh, that makes sense." Felicia replied, not that her father has put such responsibilities on her. Maybe he's just waiting until I get tired, or burned out of the game? She pondered, after all he did have a soft side for her. "Ah, anyway, you wanted to know about my partner, right?" The red-head asks, before taking a spoon full of her curry rice. "Mmh, pretty good." She hummed, smiling. But if Elisa gives a positive response, "Do you know about... duel spirits?" Felicia asked in a low tone to avoid being overheard by anyone else aside from Elisa.
Elisa nods, mouth full of food. She shakes her head at the mention of duel spirits, swallowing to speak. "No. Perhaps this is your magical forte? What are these duel spirits?"
Felicia giggles as she sees Elisa's mouth was full, which looked out of place with the regal lady appearance she was putting on. "Duel spirits are... basically your cards." She whispers, "It sounds like a lie... but your cards, at least one of them is alive, and with you... at least in spirit." The red-head tries to explain as best she can, "From what I understood, everyone has a spirit. Some have just... connected more than others. Why don't you try it?" She said as she takes another bite off of her meal, "Mmh, just... close your eyes, and think of communicating with the first card that pops into your head."
As she falls back exhausted, she wondered if she did it successfully, but couldn't work up enough power left to try to commune. It might be enough. She'd have more chances to later...they wouldn't be so easily beaten by something like the yokai. She was sure of that. But.. That still left her with her surroundings blurred and feeling faint, barely conscious. She had been spending magical power a lot the past few days and it was now impossible to avoid feeling it take it's toll. As she attempted to stand up properly, she struggled before falling forward onto her bed. She definitely couldn't keep up this kind of strain at this rate without proper recovery. Even the time she had taken the other day, still wasn't quite enough. All she could do is lie face first on her blanket. She understood the problem well enough. She had done what was essentially steroids. Her abilities had grown, but her body couldn't keep up with the required output to use them. After taking some time to collect herself, she resolved to send a notice to her students for her upcoming class they would be cancelled due to illness. She wouldn't need to explain herself too much. Though she felt a bit bad, knowing how much Ixcheal was looking forward to them. As she typed up the notice....her thumb hovered over send...but she couldn't click it. She remembered that Umi was starting to finally open up to the chance to properly learn. If she had to cancel now, it would become nearly impossible to get her to come back again. With a lot of weariness, Julia forced herself up to clean up her ritual stuff and take a bit of time to apply some makeup to hide the noticeably rapid signs of exhaustion formed under her darkening eyelids and made her way to do her afternoon classes.
"This feels foolish, but I have heard rumor of far stranger things." Elisa closes her eyes for a few seconds. "Nothing." She shakes her head, taking another bite of her spicy curry. Spoiler: Perception Roll 68+20(Perceptive)=88 success She tells the truth. The girl really hasn't had any communication with her spirit, assuming there's one present with her. "I assume you...speak with yours regularly?"
"Huh, that's odd. Maybe it's still sleeping?" Felicia replied, wondering why Elisa hasn't gotten into contact with her spirit yet, since she can already do magic. "Err, only when they feel like it." She replied to the question about communication. "Well, moving on, what sort of deck do you have?" The red-head asked, wondering if maybe she could help nudge Elisa's spirit awake if she learned which card she held most dear. Not that I know much about this stuff... but it's worth a shot, right? I mean, everyone's spirits seem to be helping in a way.
"Un cafe." Adam gives the woman a confident smile, contrasting with his companion. "You seem nervous." He says to Alex.
Willing herself to carry on with the day, Julia receives a message from Sayen as she prepares to depart her room. Thank you for steering Angelica to me. To protect her privacy, I will not go into detail, but she has much to process. The exhausted professor shuffles her way to the classroom hosting Sensuality and Civilization, finding a lone woman in an Obelisk Blue uniform waiting for her. Spoiler: Waiting Woman "Good afternoon, professor." She bows elegantly, her voice naturally sensuous.
Elisa giggles. "Then it certainly keeps odd hours!" She takes another bite of food then swallows. "I cannot share that without recourse." The refined young woman smiles wryly. "I'm sure you understand the importance of keeping your deck's contents close to the chest." Spoiler: Spiritual Resonance Roll 42+10(Double Spirits)-10(Untrained)=42 weak fail By looking at Elisa and concentrating, Felicia is somehow able to see a vaguely knight-like warrior hidden within the Ra Yellow student's soul. The other girl notices Felicia's stare. "Are you well?"
The woman scampers behind the counter to fill the order. "I'm...not very comfortable around people." The smaller student cautiously explains. "Usually I just...stay quiet." The barista returns mere minutes later, carrying both men's orders. Steam rises from their drinks. "Enjoy!" She rushes off to wait on another student.
"That's a shame." Adam blows on the coffee a little, before taking a sip. "Handsome guy like you - if you put yourself out there more, I think you'd be really popular." He shrugs. "So, tell me about yourself."
Julia wondered how much Angelica could share, but she felt Sayen knew what she was doing even without the full story. As Julia tried to keep down the growing headache, she did her best to smile at the student waiting. "Afternoon." It was obvious she was tired, but she did her best to be poilte.
"That's true, sorry for prying." Felicia replied with a smile, before trying to gauge what sort of spirit Elisa had. "Oh, yes, I'm fine. I was just... looking. It seems your spirit is still hidden. Uhm, I think that means you two haven't sparked a bond yet." She babbles on, unsure of what she's saying. "But, I can see that it's a knight in shining armor. Hehe. Fit for a princess, huh?" The red-head then gives a strangely accurate guess as to what special monster Elisa's deck contains.
