"Maybe, then again maybe not. You said it yourself, some cards are based on history. Maybe it's coincidence... maybe it's not. Who knows." Felicia smiles back, nodding as he mentions getting ready to go. "Oh, thanks." She replies as he pays for their meal. Once they were done, she thanks the owner for their delicious meal, bowing, before leaving. "Mmmh, that was good. Where to now?" Felicia stretches a bit, making her large breasts jiggle underneath her sleeveless blouse.
Responding, Julia grabs her deck. She had to imagine Yoko likely ran similar cards to her sister, but she'd have to assume they wouldn't use the exact same set. Of course....Julia had access to a lot of other cards. She knew that Yoko would be expecting and likely ready to counter the Nekroz....so naturally, Julia pulled one of the spare practice decks she had for testing she took earlier today. Even she didn't know exactly what she would end up with, but that would make it all the more dangerous, since she had to assume Yoko believed this was coming for some time and had readied herself for countering ritual monsters.....hypothetically.
"Good luck!" Destiny shouts after him. ----- The walk to La Belle Fourchette is quick, and Adam arrives around fifteen minutes early. The red storefront gleams in the slowly setting sun, with clothing stores and other shops surrounding it. What he can see of his destination's interior reveals a classy, French-themed restaurant. Spoiler: La Belle Fourchette Spoiler: Perception Roll 68=68 success A quick glance along the busy street reveals no sign of the woman from his dreams.
Samir follows suit, bowing to the waiter before exiting after Felicia. Spoiler: Perception Roll 40+20(Perceptive)=60 success The girl's date finally fails to fight the urge to steal a glance at her chest. His eyes return to her face after only a second or two. "That's up to you." He smiles reassuringly as they stand in front of the restaurant. "I was originally thinking of something like walking through the academy's gardens, but I'm sure we can find a movie theater, a bar, or anything else, if you prefer. Of course, we can also call it a night here if you want."
"You can go first." The fox-woman stands confidently across the small clearing. "I want to see what you used to beat my sister." Her mask gives Julia a knowing smile. Spoiler: Perception Roll 24+10(Cold Reading)+10(Spirit Taming)-10(Mask)-20(Trickster)=14 fail "Oh, and do keep in mind the grounds upon which you stand~" Yoko cryptically taunts in a sing-song voice. Spoiler: Turn 1 Julia 37=37 poor Yoko 78+10(Dominion)=88 good [Do you want to go turn-by-turn or be less in-depth?]
Like before, her opening draws weren't good. She still was almost amused to be using yet another water deck, but this trap based play might be a little difficult to manage here. Still.....it has a style of simply changing positions while summoning themselves as trap monsters. It would have to be done carefully, but it wasn't impossible to manage. Opening her first turn, she made it rather simply, setting the trap down with another one. Still, she didn't quite know what this deck had for other support and if she couldn't destroy Yoko's backrow or get any other monsters out without much set up, it could be a problem. "I set two cards down on my back row and end my turn."
"I think we still have some time for a movie." Felicia replied, hiding the fact that she noticed him staring at her chest. They make their way to the theatre, looking at tonight's showing.
"How passive of you." Yoko draws. "I will allow you a second chance to show me your thralls, sorcerer. I activate Zombie World." Spoiler: Zombie World A legion of grasping, necrotic hands rise from the grassy ground. They dig into the earth, seeking to free the rest of their bodies. "Foolish of you to challenge a spirit in a realm of the dead, mortal." The kitsune verbally jabs. "I summon The Thing in the Crater." Spoiler: The Thing A hole opens up in the glade, revealing a pit of magma and a shadowy figure within. "What do you have planned, hm? The Thing attacks you."
Julia wasn't surprised to see her not running the same deck. She still played a zombie world in combination with pyro types...mainly Julia understood what she wanted to do. Zombie world didn't change the type of cards in the hand, so she could still special summon freely from it. Of course, Yoko was using an intentionally weak monster to bait for traps and wanted Julia to destroy it. Making up her mind, Julia choose not to active any of her traps and allow it to attack normally for now and save for more important monsters later.
The walk is short, as a theater lies nearby. Spoiler: Cinema Exterior (ignore the rain/mist) The grand lobby feels spacious, despite the crowd. Samir escorts Felicia to the ticket window. "I'll pay for the tickets." Films starting soon include Spirited Away (Miyazaki's newest film, billed as a fantasy movie), Goryokaku (a dramatic war film set during the Boshin War), and a pair of American films--The Curse of the Jade Scorpion (some comedy movie) and Ghosts of Mars (a horror flick). [Three guesses what the in-game year is.]
The enshrouded directs a thrown clump of molten rock at Julia, hitting her for 1000 damage as the intense heat burns her left leg. "Passive indeed..." Yoko muses. "I prepare a trap and allow you the chance to strike back. Summon something fun, mortal." The fox-girl taunts. Spoiler: Turn 2 Rolls Julia 44=44 average Yoko 74+10(Dominion)=84 good
"Hmm, there are four shows currently. Do you have a preference?" Felicia asked in a curious tone. "Should we continue on our Japanese themed date?" She added, pointing at the two eastern movies. Smiling to show she'll be fine with anything. (I'll go with early 2000's, so 2003?)
The burning sting was much more different than it was, even in Angelica's duel. This felt much more real. Much more unpleasant. However as Julia drew her next card, gritting her teeth and bearing with it, it looked like her luck was shaping up a bit. Yoko didn't have tons of field presence yet, but the way this deck functioned was on chaining traps and spells together. Biding her time wasn't a total waste. While these monsters had strong effects, the issue came in their typically low attack power. However....she would need to hope she could draw it quickly. Calmly, she placed down another trap card in position. Even if Yoko destroyed them, they wanted to be in the graveyard anyway to summon themselves as monsters. Spoiler "I set another face down card and end my turn."
Samir looks up at the "NOW SHOWING" sign in consideration. "I think we'll probably like Spirited Away better." He decides, purchasing a pair of tickets at the booth once their spot in line comes up. "Do you want anything before we go find seats?" The young man asks, leading Felicia in the direction of the concession stand and the hallway to the auditoriums. [Close but not quite.]
"Sounds good to me." Felicia nods as he picks out the movie. "Hmm, popcorn and soda are always nice during a movie." She adds, this time however, Felicia pays for their snacks. Giving Samir a smile as she did, before they head to their seats. (Hmmmm. 2001 then?)
Yoko sighs, disappointed so far. "You were supposed to be entertaining, mortal. Fine. I summon Uni-Zombie." Spoiler: Uni-Zombie A pair of conjoined, undead beings claws out of the dirt. "Standing together, they strengthen The Thing, sending Glow-Up Bloom from my hand to its death." Spoiler: Glow-Up Bloom "However, the buried flower draws all manner of creatures..." The kistune's mask smiles in anticipation. "I summon my truest kin! The Nine-Tailed Fox!" Spoiler: Nine-Tailed Fox A white and red, vulpine beast bearing nine tails, wicked claws, and sharp fangs surfaces from beneath the glade. "I also activate Mayakashi Mayhem, granting me even more resources." Spoiler: Mayakashi Mayhem Yoko draws a card via the Trap's effect. [Does Julia want to intercede yet?]
Adam takes a seat at the restaurant. Just like home... He thinks to himself, perhaps a little snobbily. He orders some wine as he waits.
Julia looked a little surprised, at Yoko's surprisingly high level technical plays in contrast to the relatively simple but effective moves her sister made, however, the surprise wore off quickly as Julia as Julia shut her eyes for a moment, and slowly let out the words, with total confidence. "Morbum aut Curandum" Her calmness dissolved into a smile, as the ground etched out something lurking from out under a tangle of glowing blue like fines, and at it's core a fossilized eye like structure peering out from beneath the surface. "I activate my trap- "I discard a card in my hand and in exchange, I banish nine tailed fox. " She threw a card into the graveyard without announcing what it is, since she technically didn't need to explain this to Yoko and it was hardly like the fox was playing fair either, but it was still within the rules and spirit of the game. But as the fossil like creature pulled the spiritual fox in, the ancient beast was apparently too starved for even the fox to resist as it pulled it underground to...who knows where. The match wasn't a lock yet, but Julia had a triumphant smile. "All that hard work and it looks like you're back to square one again." Her smugness however was short lived before having a more serious air. "The dead have been raised, and he must cure the disease."
"Thank you!" Samir seems pleasantly surprised by Felicia paying for their concessions. Showing their tickets to the suited host at the beginning of the hallway, he gives them directions to the auditorium, wishing the couple well. Spoiler: Cinema Auditorium The large, blue-lit room is already three-quarters full, but the pair finds decent seats in the center rows. "Must be popular. Good thing we're here a little early." The Egyptian student notes as they shuffle past a few other people before finally sitting. [Yep! It's 2001 but with modern tech because DM needs it, so don't change your mental images too much.]
Spoiler: Commune Roll 99=99 strong success You realize how dangerous this meeting is, yes? Adam hears a somewhat familiar voice speaking to him. If she bears ill intent, you, my pupil, will be nigh helpless. I attempted to warn you earlier, but I couldn't get through that thick skull of yours. The Quintet Magician forestalls protests based on the timing of his warning. That hardheadedness might be your only hope now. He says with reservation. Whatever you do, take this seriously. And you may not be able to trust your senses if the worst comes to pass. A woman--the woman from the vision, Adam instantly recognizes--steps into the restaurant. Spoiler: Merneith? She looks around, spotting the young man, and approaches his table hesitantly. "Adam?"
