Derrick grins across the table. Normally, he wouldn't have even bothered walking in the doors of this inn. Much too expensive for his tastes. Most of his money goes towards paying folks for stories, learning about the legends and myths that collect in ports, all in an attempt to find even one true story. As his luck would have it, barely even a week ago, he found it. Real magic. Something to put his toe over the line of normality. He's on top of the world, then!
So, naturally, given his luck's been so good, might as well score some cash off it.
Derrick makes an exaggerated motion, lazily sweeping his hand holding the dice around and out to his side, "What's the hurry? Scared to lose a couple bucks?" Derrick is not afraid to say he's not the smartest fellow. Never has been. But even he knows more than to call out why someone as rich as the likely governor's son is doing, relatively, in such a poor place as this. "I'm sure you got at least that much to spare with those fancy clothes." Ah, trash talk. A staple of competition everywhere.
"I suppose we'll see how you fair after this! Four threes!" Derrick borderline throws the dice onto the table. For all his bravado, he does know a trick or two with dice. A subtle flick of the wrist, a dice catching it's edge at an opportune angle, and voila!
