I just tried to post text that included emojis, but the first emoji and everything following it disappeared after the text was posted. Do emojis screw up the page? I tested it with a ❤️ and that posted, but when I tested the winking emoji, it disappeared when I tried to post (including when I tried to post it in this forum). Why do some symbols work but not others? Does the ❤️ read as Unicode to the site’s code or something? Is it just impossible to use emojis on this site?
All characters read as Unicode on the site (and everywhere else that uses Unicode). An emoji is just a character, no different from 'A', or 'ð' or '心' or '♬'. Correct. Only some of them are supported. The guide says only those up to Unicode 5.2 work, but also says to test them first.
Ok. I was trying to write chapters with mock social media posts, but I guess I’ll just have to settle for old-school emoticons. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
